Was there ever a game you played that literally floored you? Compared to its contemporaries, did the game offer something that you had never before experienced?
For me Metroid will always stick out. I had never seen anything like it before. A game that was non-linear?! Hidden passages throughout?! Multiple endings?! A secret protagonist that was a female?! With regards to games that were ahead of their time and truly broke the mold, I've always felt the original NES Metroid wears the crown.
