So what's the plan here? Obviously the majority of the talent will be from the US. How will scoring work for teams with varying numbers of players etc.

experience in these competitions shows scoring flaws.
for example, the last team IGBY.
scoring was for the first 30 scores, when there were teams with only 13 players. How can you have a fair competition with the top 30 scores earning points, when some teams have less than 30 players?
you need to make the scores with points match only the number of players in the smallest team, otherwise, the team with the most players wins, even if their scores are rubbish.
even if the team with only 13 players gets ALL the top scores, the teams with 30 players will win.
STUPID.

Kernzy - RU team had the most players in IGBY, but DKF won.

By a large amount as well, 37 to 26.

Anything but a US/North America vs. World format seems like it's prone to problems with numbers however.

this means that some RU players did not play all the games, or only played once or twice. i remember the scoreboard.
nevertheless, DKF had twice as many players as the smaller teams.
If i join, that would bring our team up to....... 3! lol
maybe join a few teams together until the numbers even out a bit more?
these are great competitions, incidentally.

will this be scored like the olympics, only 3 top scores get points? that would even the field somewhat.
thinking of the real Olympics, the teams with the most competitors always get the top spots, so maybe the original scoring system will be perfect!

I still am going to wait intil january 19th to decide teams, the teams are going to be the same number in size though

Signed up. I would like to be a part of team DKF if possible (I was on that team for IGBY), but if not then no big deal.

i am leaning to a draft to decide teams so teams will be even both in size and strength

@kernzy - the IGBY tournament was great as far as I was concerned. And no, it was not the top 30 scores that got points, only the top 5 scores for a team got into the overall top 30.

i.e. So the DKF team wasn't able to do any better than 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th in Donkey Kong - if their 6th best score was higher than everyone else's score, it was discarded.

The reason for the 30 scores was there was 6 teams, and the top 5 scores from each team then made up the 30 scores.

The bigger teams are generally going to have an advantage in this situation,

Maybe next time wolfman runs the IGBY we can have 6 teams again, and 6 captains. Everyone nominates that wants to play and captains then take it in turns picking players (sort of like a football draft), that way team numbers will be equal. But then of course you lose the competitive nature of forum v forum. For our size and number of players (many of our really good players didn't take part in the IGBY) I think the Aussie Arcade boys did rather well.
