|NTSC - Fastest KO/TKO of Piston Honda #2||See the full adjudication thread here:|
|Rules||Factory Default [PASSWORDS ARE ALLOWED!]|
Special Rules: You ARE allowed to use a Password to get to a specific Fighter or Class. Please also note, that if you go for a Fastest Completion record, all times for this fighter will transferred under this variation unless otherwise requested. The game time required to defeat each boxer will be your record. Example: If it takes you 1:00 in the 3rd round to take down a boxer, your overall completion time will be 7:00 [Each round is 3 minutes, so 2x3:00 Rounds = 6:00 plus the 1:00 in the 3rd round] Your attempt MUST CLEARLY SHOW the FINAL TIME for each successful attempt. If you quit recording before it is displayed properly, your attempt will be disqualified. YOU MUST SUCCESSFULLY WIN THE BOUT for your time to count! Failure to do so will disqualify your attempt.
Please note that there is a way to stop the timer in the game, which involves throwing your punch a bit late. Due to the fact that this can be exploited into something more permanent for during the round, and due to the fact that you can do this quite by accident, I am imposing a 5 second window. This means if you stop the clock via this method, you have exactly 5 seconds to get the clock started again [Barring KO/TKO or Round End] or your attempt will be INSTANTLY Disqualified! NO EXCEPTIONS!
|Submission Message||I was excited about this bout because I learned the fight the night before and that dizzy destroyer started to come easier to me. I don't plan on maxing out all of this fights. I just wanted to learn decent speedrun strats for a single segment one day.|

Indeed, I know about special instances where someone can take a game and make it look stupid. Hell, I am that guy! lol.
This comes after a period of time. Have you ever heard of someone setting an unmatchable score after less than 6 months? And I mean less than 6 months of the games national release? Unless you live in the arcade, this is a great feat.
that would be interesting to know. This is where legitimacy becomes
I read most of this thread, and there definitely isn't concrete proof to suggest that Todd Roger's scores are invalid. The evidence seems to suggest that there were/are a handful of scores that were taken from activision, etc. These things in general are prone to error. It seems there are only a few scores in question out of the many he has. People have the right to be skeptical, but I personally believe that Todd is a completely legitimate player.andrewg Yesterday, 12:03 PM
Right on, I was just curious :) We used to be on Mediacom here, but they sold out to a smaller company before I started getting my Internet service from them. That company just started going around preparing for a fiber optic upgrade that is supposed to improve things, but I guess I'll have to see what happens.
Assuming slow upload speed is a factor in successful uploads, I'd be curious to see what the lowest connection speed is that
just checked again. 45mS/26.1M down/2.15 up
I have Mediacom and live on the edge of town on a dead end street. A cable company rep told me that our lines are really old and it isn't profitable to replace the lines on a dead end street, but further in town they will replace lines because more customers is profitable to them. ahem. so even if I bought faster service, it wouldn't deliver to my house.
TG probably just needs
Is that correct, Mark? That's a darn good upload speed compared to your download. I would consider that a pretty good upload speed, myself, but I would seeing as my upload speed is 0.6M.
I haven't tried uploading a score recently, though I have inclinations to do so in the near future. When I do so I will try again to go direct to the site, but I'm hesitant because even with an error-free upload it takes hours and hours to upload a
Hopefully one day TG staff will make it possible for those of us with slow internet connections to upload videos directly to TG. Otherwise records will only be held by the privileged people who live in areas with decent internet and/or those who can afford faster connections. People like me will be shut out from non-MAME platforms.
I find it ridiculous that I can upload a video directly to YouTube without any problem, no matter how long
i had the token message on a 1.8G upload (atari 800xl robo). tried multiple times, would get to various points in the download message whereupon it would get the token expired message.
I download a couple other smaller files at the same time with no issues.
The solution was to use Youtube whereupon the same exact file uploaded without an issue.
speed test is 68mS ping, 26M up, 1.94M down.
Cool :) All is good then from what I see. Thank you!andrewg Yesterday, 04:05 AM

The scores are shown in standard format .
Since this old thread is bumped, I'm responding to a few. The original text below plus my comments in red...
Space Invaders - Tier 1
Asteroids - Tier 1
Galaxian - Tier 1
Lunar Rescue - Tier 2
Asteroids Deluxe - Tier 1
Battle Zone - Tier 1
Berzerk - Tier 1
Centipede - Tier 1
EDIT: playing with the submission form, it seems that every value will now go out to 3 places. I guess that works out, and makes perfect sense now.
EDIT2: There is one more note of interest regarding time submissions...
If a time goes into hours, the zero will be omitted. I assume it should say 3:08:34 for 2nd place, but says 3:8:34.
As for the older "impossible" marathon scores, I'll share one anecdote which only very few people know about. I posted it once on the forum but I think that info has been buried over time. Here goes...
In the pre-TG era, someone did 1M points on arcade "Space Invaders", a SEMI-TRUE story.
Somehow, and I do not know how, the game was rigged with a pause button to allow for things like bathroom breaks and
yah man, i totallly understand where you are coming from. But Jace is making it fairly clear that folks aren't going to get the satisfaction of removing scores from the historical archive in general. and can you blame him, cuz the refs that did partake in such behaviors have effectively been vilified as "corrupt." damned if you do, damned if you don't.
Imagine being the guy in this story. He was very passionate about his
The submission form has been FIXED! There are no more lies on the form that can make baby jesus cry...TWIN GALAXIES 03-30-2015, 02:38 PM
Well Jace... if you say the TG "will likely not be making money directly on them"... there's some idea then:
Why TG doesn't allow/release for WR holders a ordinary WR certificate for their records...just to print? A simple one (with logo, copy signature, etc)...which would be possible to see and download. It's not difficult to do. When you have a WR..you will 'receive' the access to print.. which would generate automaticly
that was very nice!
Billy Joe is a top gent.
Unfortunately, "knowing" that a top score is unachievable whether it be based on time/score discrepancies or from veteran expertise, and keeping someone from their deserved top spot, is never going to allow someone to "go with the flow".
If it was one of your records that was kept in 2nd. place because of a bogus top score, would you just go with the flow?
Please reject this score. I'll resubmit now that the database is reconfigured to accept milliseconds:
Yes, I do see the open field to enter 3 or more integers in the milli-second side (using a Gran Turismo track as an example). Looks great and straight-forward.
One more thing if you may, there are 3 existing tracks available for Gran Turismo 5. However, there are no open fields at all to enter the times.
I have some old youtube videos out there years ago to properly submit on them, as I dont mind being the test guinea pig to see
We have changed the submission form . Now the users can enter 3 digits in the millisecond field.
In order to standardize things ,TG submission form will accept 3 digits in millisecond field.
if the user enters the score .700 then the value entered in the database will be .70
If the user enters .070 then the value entered in the database will be .07
If the user enters .716
Your mission, Mike and Nick, should you choose to accept it, is to figure out HOW to properly video record the virtual boy screen in play, with a photo of the final score. (There is always a way.) This message will self-destruct in 5 seconds!
We are making changes on the Submission form to accept 3 digits in the millisecond field.
The submission form will be unavailable for a few hours . Please be patient until we fix the 3 digit issue.
We thank you for your patience
since many won't take the time to click the Defender link above, I'll copy and paste how that page ends which is what the Defender community embraces, minus the drug test stuff.....
DISCLAIMER- As with any cultural event, there is a blurring being facts and a good story. Although, Walter Day/Twin Galaxies attempted to maintain legitimate scores in the early 80s,there were subversions to the rules of the game (hopefully honest
I would like to question your placement of Omega Race, Make Trax, and Frenzy on Tier 1. I've always thought of Make Trax as one of those Tier 2 Pac-Man clones like Lady Bug, Lock'n'Chase, and Mouse Trap. With Frenzy, could the sequel really be as popular as the original?124scratch 03-30-2015, 10:49 AM
this thread is mostly ridiculous in the maturity level, but I do see this bit of info which has substance/validity and helps set a proper context.
So I'll expound on the topic from the perspective of being a member of the Defender playing community (folks that don't even interact at TG currently or maybe never have before)
Rob mentioned lost records which is completely accurate. One of my good friends did a 24hr plus Defender marathon
