recording INPs with mame 193

Anyone know how to record inps with newest versions of wolf mame? They don't have the red record button anymore. Sorry if this is a dumb question but I'm not very savvy at thing like this :)

Can't you right click game name, "record input"?

Hmm, don’t know and now I’m out and about. Never right clicked anything on the game list, lol. I’ll try when I get home. Thanks for the tip :)

Derek, do you know how to use the command line? If so, just change directory to where you have WolfMAME installed (i.e. if your directory is C:\Wolf193, then you would type cd C:\Wolf193 and hit enter), then to start a recording, type record ROMname inpname (i.e to record a Frogger run with the name Frog1, you would type record frogger frog1 and hit enter).

If you run into any problems or have questions, feel free to send me a PM and I can help you out.

Thanks Jason, Iím hoping right clicking the game will work if not Iíll have to look into the command line; Iíve never used it before so Iíll probably have questions if I start using it. Once Iím home Iíll give it a look

It will take you all of 5 minutes to learn, don't worry :)

Command lines it is. Right clicking doesn't have a record option; feels like a BIG step backwards from the MAME devs.

I attempted to send a PM jason, not sure if I did it right :)

I cant insert an image in PM only link one so here's what command prompt told me. record is not a command. Where am I making a mistake? (I don't know jack about command prompt or PC's for that matter, I've been in construction since I was 19)

    Big up the construction posse!!

Have you typed "mame64 -cc" without inverted comma's, to generate the configuration file??

just type that in as you typed in the message? I need a digit for digit reply so I can see excactly what to type into it and hopefully the light bulb will flip on above my head :)

I see the problem Derek - the cd command isn't working because you need to first switch from your C drive to the D drive.

Type d: and hit enter, then type the cd command again and hit enter. To record, you will type record aerofgt aero then hit enter...this will start Aero Fighters and a recording named aero.inp in your .inp folder.

Try that and let me know if you run into any further issues.

I type D hit enter and i'm told D is not recogonized as an internal or external command

d: - you probably didn't see it in my message, but the colon is important! Type d: then enter

You must enter exactly what your mame folder is called. No hyphens, etc unless it's in the name.
For you, i'd start by doing this:

cd"wolfmame193" (your folder name, no inverted comma's) >enter.
mame64 [space] -cc >enter , to create config older. Mame should pause for a few seconds after hitting enter.
Have you got this far yet?
Oh yeah, if MAME is in another directory, start with "cd\D"
