As you may have noticed, the Twin Galaxies website just underwent a significant upgrade. :)

We recommend that if you have visited the Twin Galaxies site prior to April 11th, that you please clear your web browser's cache and refresh the site a couple times to clear out all the old TG webcode and replace it with the new stuff. Not doing this may result in some website display issues.

A tremendous amount of work and changes are currently being activated and as they come online there will likely be some initial problems to correct. We appreciate your patience as we discover and sort out these lingering issues.

The changes are extensive, however there are some notable items:

Site is a bit easier to see and navigate on mobile. Yay!

Search system has been upgraded! In the upper right corner of the site is a search magnifying glass. This is the new search function and the site will now return much better and useful results that it had previously.

Upload system has been upgraded! We believe that we have successfully solved the issue that some members with slower connections were having when uploading large files. Additionally, members can now choose multiple files at once to upload. Give it a try! :)

Premium Tracks (track filtering)
We have implemented the first stage of our leaderboard (track) filtering system. This directly addresses member's ongoing concerns regarding database track dilution through ongoing user track creation.

There are only 2 types of Tracks in our system. PREMIUM and NOT PREMIUM.

Premium Tracks are what all users will see by default.

Premium Tracks are tracks that are considered by Twin Galaxies to have at least one (1) of these attributes:

High Quality (as determined by Twin Galaxies Administration)
Sufficiently Competed On
Promotional of Twin Galaxies' Goals as an Organization

Starting in May 2017, only records held on Premium Tracks will be eligible for entry into the Guinness Book of World Records.

User created tracks are not Premium by default.

In order for a user created track to become Premium, it must either be made premium by Twin Galaxies Administration, or the track must have at least 10 adjudicated records on it.

When a user created track contains 10 adjudicated records, it will automatically become Premium as it will have reached the minimum participation standard. It will then become eligible to be submitted to Guinness World Records.

The current Premium tracks that are established and viewable are all of the tracks that were acquired from the previous era of Twin Galaxies (prior to April 2014.) This effectively removes any and all new era user created track dilution from the system default view (unless a user created track has more than 10 records - then it is now premium as well.)

User created tracks that may not ever be able to achieve the 10 participant minimum, but are high quality and have some competitors that would like the track to become premium can have the original track founders submit a request for TG admin to review and consider.

We hope that you like the upgrades and appreciate your patience as we work out all the kinks!

More info soon!

I hope it isn't like today much longer, spent too much time trying to see if is the site or my PC with problems, hasn't been fun.
For clarity once again:

Two ways to become Premium -

1.) Track achieves 10 record entries.

OR

2.) You request @TWIN GALAXIES via PM to make your track Premium and they approve it.

Besides all of the user created categories that have disappeared, clicking on the button to upload videos takes me to the home page of the site.

On my regular PC, it does the same thing when I hit the upload button, and my personal highscore page it terribly whacked.

Tried my laptop, it let me upload a video and submit, but the other "problems" are still there.

I have faith it will sort out, I know I'm being a little cranky about it, just a very active submitter at the moment, you guy's are cramping my style!

Maybe its the terminology being used that might be insulting to some - "premium" - AKA - A bias favoring of an old TG founded created track, (2-20 entries at TG, but most dont care about those games today) that is now "superior" to a new modern game member created track. (2-5 entries to date at TG, but millions of gamers around the globe currently play and compete on.)

It all comes back to participation again.

You just cant force someone to play a game on what they dont care about. Just like "ESI" doesnt always measure ones "skill" in a game or console. It is a participation ranking. (PRI) But that was an entirely different debate alltogether! Heh.

In the end, a "premium" game is all an opinion to the eye of the beholder. Maybe a better term to use could have been "TG founded track vs. Non-TG founded track"? Deep thought...
Making a track premium or junk. Wasn't that something that the "rate this track" was for. Why not also allow the community to do some of the work with that feature again. Yeah there are some junk tracks out there that should not be allowed, but if they get moved to the junk category and I don't have to look at them then I'm fine with that. I think that the community should be able to vote a track into premium though. Setup an adjudication of tracks that people can submit the track that they think is premium and allow the users to vote on it. Give points for participation just like on a regular track.
No because Clearly the system is broken and many cannot be trusted they will down vote the track example if they cannot play it or BEAT me it will be down voted....

I will say this I do not see 10 people playing my DIFFICULT Archon track for many reasons one they cannot do it, two they have to beat me, and 3 because it was created by me lol

Not adding anything profound to the conversation here, but all these posts...
We and the staff at TG sure do care about this a lot.
That can't be bad?

Rudy-if I live enough lifetimes, I'll try to play some of your games, I like #1's , but sometimes a good old #2 feels GREAT!
I'm obliviously nice(or try to be, at least), and still new...
I don't think people dislike you as much as you think, Man, seriously.

One issue I can think of re premium vs non-premium.
You state that the track "founder" must request the track becomes premium.
This could be nigh on impossible for some tracks that were user created many years ago by members who are no longer active.
So many tracks will be resigned to the non-premium section with little chance of getting 10 accepted scores?
Await your input on this question @Jace Hall

Please try clearing your web browser cache and refreshing the site on the page you are trying to use and view each time. Just refreshing on the home page will not refresh the other pages in many cases.

Dude Rudy I like you but you gotta quit with the needless blowing of your own horn when real site issues are being discussed.

I beat your Rad Racer score and whoopdedoo nothing happened and it's not a big deal. This site doesn't revolve around you. You're a hella good gamer. One of the best. But don't derail the conversation.

EDIT: I understand that Rudy is trying to draw attention to the fact that people can downvote any track for any reason, including not being very good at the track. As much as I can't deny that possibility I don't think it is anywhere close to a phenomenon that would indicate that the previous system was "broken."

There are no user tracks that were created many years ago by members who are no longer active.

All user created track have been created within the last 1000 days by current users of TG today.

Even if one of those users has decided to become inactive, they can still be contacted through their user profile page and asked to take action.

If they do not want to do that, then TG can be contacted to look at specific matters on a case by case basis.

Absolutely have, honest. Over and over. For a few of us, in the old days(yesterday)the cancel function simply would not work, others can back me up.

Not sure-tried using edge on W10 for a sub just now, wouldn't upload vid, tried IE7 on a laptop, wouldn't upload, but is uploading now with chrome on the laptop.

Sorry, I hate to keep being a bummer-I'll keep working on PC, but not sure it isn't a cookie/security/coding issue.

Worst case(not today), I'll make an OSD vid of me attempting to refresh/delete cookies, etc, show the problems I am having.

After submission uploads, I will explore the site with chrome, see if I get better results.

No worries, and thanks for the input!

Nah, chrome the same problems, 2 pcs, 3 os's-when you look at your own score page, a big blue banner blots out the top of the screen. When you click the button to change from seeing 30 scores to more or less, it doesn't do anything.
Pretty sure this isn't just me.

I earned that right and for the record all the games I played on were down voted

So back to the topic on hand I really feel that there needs to be a better route to this whole Garbage Tracks vs. Premium

I also think more serious issues like removing self entered scores by former refs and their Gfs and wives need to be handled.....

Also Jace needs to either release the private archives or take action on what transpired it's time and everyone knows it!!!! 20 people or more have the info

Last if this is going to be an issue rid track creator you cannot have it both ways
