TWIN GALAXIES

As you may have noticed, the Twin Galaxies website just underwent a significant upgrade. :)

We recommend that if you have visited the Twin Galaxies site prior to April 11th, that you please clear your web browser's cache and refresh the site a couple times to clear out all the old TG webcode and replace it with the new stuff. Not doing this may result in some website display issues.

A tremendous amount of work and changes are currently being activated and as they come online there will likely be some initial problems to correct. We appreciate your patience as we discover and sort out these lingering issues.

The changes are extensive, however there are some notable items:

Site is a bit easier to see and navigate on mobile. Yay!

Search system has been upgraded! In the upper right corner of the site is a search magnifying glass. This is the new search function and the site will now return much better and useful results that it had previously.

Upload system has been upgraded! We believe that we have successfully solved the issue that some members with slower connections were having when uploading large files. Additionally, members can now choose multiple files at once to upload. Give it a try! :)

Premium Tracks (track filtering)
We have implemented the first stage of our leaderboard (track) filtering system. This directly addresses member's ongoing concerns regarding database track dilution through ongoing user track creation.

There are only 2 types of Tracks in our system. PREMIUM and NOT PREMIUM.

Premium Tracks are what all users will see by default.

Premium Tracks are tracks that are considered by Twin Galaxies to have at least one (1) of these attributes:

High Quality (as determined by Twin Galaxies Administration)
Sufficiently Competed On
Promotional of Twin Galaxies' Goals as an Organization

Starting in May 2017, only records held on Premium Tracks will be eligible for entry into the Guinness Book of World Records.

User created tracks are not Premium by default.

In order for a user created track to become Premium, it must either be made premium by Twin Galaxies Administration, or the track must have at least 10 adjudicated records on it.

When a user created track contains 10 adjudicated records, it will automatically become Premium as it will have reached the minimum participation standard. It will then become eligible to be submitted to Guinness World Records.

The current Premium tracks that are established and viewable are all of the tracks that were acquired from the previous era of Twin Galaxies (prior to April 2014.) This effectively removes any and all new era user created track dilution from the system default view (unless a user created track has more than 10 records - then it is now premium as well.)

User created tracks that may not ever be able to achieve the 10 participant minimum, but are high quality and have some competitors that would like the track to become premium can have the original track founders submit a request for TG admin to review and consider.

We hope that you like the upgrades and appreciate your patience as we work out all the kinks!

More info soon!

I liked the somewhat peace and quiet as of late. Now I'm back to being anxious on the site again. Damnit to hell.

There are TWO types of tracks. The regular tracks, and the PREMIUM tracks.

It is pretty simple Marc. :)

Tho still new, I did think we were in an Era of Good Feelings.
I really hope that doesn't change.

A few thoughts communicated in the spirit of constructive feedback and not criticism.

Rather than add a manual notification system triggered by the track founder (community member) why not have an administrative review (TG Staff) at the time the track is paid by submission points. I think the vast majority of tracks being founded by its members are based on research, game play, and feedback from other members.

Also, instead of classifying these tracks as Premium and Regular, why not categorize these as Twin Galaxies Endorsed, Member Endorsed, and Novelty. The definitions of these serve as quality tiers for GWR consideration. The track tiers could change based on member feedback provided to TG administrators for final decision.

Finally keep the 10 and up competitor tracks and label these Competitive. This creates a few different filtering options that address the community concerns that was the catalyst for this change. Most of the vocal members want a way to filter out the novelty tracks and/or the well intended but broken tracks.

I think that the community should be able to vote a track into premium though. Setup an adjudication of tracks that people can submit the track that they think is premium and allow the users to vote on it. Give points for participation just like on a regular track.
The thumbs up/down was pretty useless though in terms of filtering even though the intended purpose was valid.

Honestly I don't feel like just anyone should be able to make tracks because it's evident that some people are using it as a means to create "joke" tracks. Not only that but tracks should be created in a way that would maximize the competitiveness for that particular game. The most competitive people on certain games imo should have more say when it comes to track creation/modification because they will have more knowledge when it comes to creating good competitive tracks for their game. How do we implement such a system? Good question.

On an unrelated note, does anyone else have any issues with the load times for this site? I consistently experience really slow load times relative to other websites.

I'm trying to submit a new score, "SMS Columns Points", a TG premium track. On my Mac, it does not let me select the video file, it is grayed out, like it is an invalid file type. However, .mov, is indicated as a valid file type by TG. On my PC, it lets me click on it, but nothing on the following page suggests it is actually selected for upload, and I don't want to try submitting if I'm not certain my file is attached.

Hi All

Please be assured that none of the games have been removed from the database .
The games which did not have any premium tracks were not shown . I have rectified this issue and all games are displayed now.

Please check and confirm

You have this golden opportunity with GWR promoting you and the televised tournament coming up and you make your site even more difficult than it already is! Every single H1Z1 player I spoke to said that this site is way too confusing and way too much work. I agree with every single one of them. Then this update just adds another tier of unnecessary effort in order to get the simplest of tasks through!
Totally agree, i had the same feedback from the H1Z1 players and look at how many of those guys stuck around... It took a $300,000 bounty to get them to come here in the first place too..

That says a lot if you ask me and that was before all this other added complexity which is now added. The forum layout itself is already over complicated and dated. People are used to Twitter and Facebook type sites and apps which do what you want with a click or tap... people don't have to attention span to mess about with dated forums anymore.

I appreciate what the TG staff do but honestly the priorities and way things are done here drive me nuts and I'm not alone with that view either (not naming any names).

It's so frustrating (even more so now with this new "feature"). It amazes me how some of the dodgy scores in the database are left and the challenge system never gets mentioned or implemented to clean up the crap already in the database... and my issues found on Everdrive devices sits around with zero input even when i put time and $$ into researching the issues which will effect many submissions (likely already have). https://www.twingalaxies.com/showthre...-everdrive-too Also the issue of no Nintendo Switch being added even though the console has been out awhile now. Yet the things which get attention are chat bars, notifications (which rarely work properly), H1Z1 pushes, Facebook cloning and branding.

Sorry but it really does seem a ss backwards to me how you are going about things. Polishing a turd is the word i would use... Changing the oil and polishing a car with a damaged engine.

And again, can i request my tracks i stated above be made premium? Will i have to wait months for this to happen like everything else i've tried to get sorted? I asked for my Ridge Racer Turbo entries to be cleaned up and ONE track got changed after WEEKS of waiting and the rest were left and remain incorrect which now means there is another error in the database... I gave up trying and left after this occurred. And yes, I'm aware you said PM TG to request this and if i could... i would...

But the PM button is no where to be seen along with the profile being a total mess. So i will request here.

It REALLY does bug the hell out of me all of this and was the reason i left a few weeks ago and I'm arguably one of the most active recent members in the past year, see what you are doing to potential new members even before killing any chances of new games getting a spot in Guinness?

So frustrating.

Site is working great for me now. Load times are very low, I can find all tracks in the database, and I was just able to submit and upload quickly.

It also looks good on mobile. I was able to search up tracks on my iPhone easily.

I use Chrome both on my PC and on my iPhone.

@rotunda I may be out of line here but you're being pretty sensitive. I don't think this kills any chances of new games getting into Guinness. Everything's still visible. Also a few weeks to get a track updated ain't that bad.

Yes you're one of the most active recent members but you're acting pretty entitled and impatient instead of acting understanding and invested in TG.

Everyone - be patient.

Yes you're one of the most active recent members but you're acting pretty entitled and impatient instead of acting understanding and invested in TG.
So spending months trying to push a challenge system, investing time and money into researching a topic which has yet to be worked out on here and was a huge issue when i first joined and then also doing even more research into ever drives even when it didn't effect me personally isn't investing into TG? Really? I'd argue I've invested more than most on here in terms of trying to help and develop clear guide lines... also, check out how many bugs I've reported in the web site forum... Yeah i don't invest do i... I'm sorry but you are completely off with that statement.

Also, yes you are damn right I'm acting entitled and impatient. When it comes to peoples records and accomplishments being crapped on yeah, i get a little touchy.

I have spent so much time here adjudicating and creating tracks to get my records up and now you tell me they aren't "premium" so I wasted my time? Yeah, I'm sensitive alright. My time is valuable.. life is short and I don't like wasting my time.

I don't think this kills any chances of new games getting into Guinness.

So new tracks being adding aren't premium and therefore won't be shown to Guinness... My Ridge Racer Turbo track i created last year was brand new, 1 entry and it got into the book... If i did that today it wouldn't so tell me how it doesn't kill the chances of new games getting in? Yes you can request for them to be premium but it's not 100% and I'm sure will take an age like most things do here.

Also a few weeks to get a track updated ain't that bad.

No you are correct, it's not... but when it isn't done correctly and makes the track even more of a mess than it was before and i have to chase them up and wait weeks again for it to be solved...

That is when it gets to a point where you get annoyed. And people here will be now doing the same thing but for Premium tracks.

I'm out of here, i wish you all the best but I'm done.

TG, could you Please premium the tracks i requested above. That is all i ask as i cannot PM you currently as the site layout is broken. Thank you.

@Jace Hall @TWIN GALAXIES Can i request all tracks on the following games/platforms be made premium?

Arcade - Ridge Racer

Arcade - Ridge Racer Full Scale

Arcade - Rave Racer

@rotunda I didn't say you haven't invested in TG I said you're not acting like you're invested.

We've all invested a lot of time and effort. Have some respect for yourself and be mature and patient. This isn't all about you and you're making yourself look like a whiny baby. Also you mention MONTHS like it's some huge time span. There are people on this site that gave YEARS and even DECADES to TG and you out-whine most of them.

Plus let's not forget you intentionally submitting several evidence videos using improper equipment to "test"
the system. I can never forgive you for that. Seems like you respect yourself more than any other entity including TG.
