Unfortunately, this is not something that we will change. The inability to edit submissions was put in place so that the evidence posted will remain forever archived in our database.

Imagine this scenario....

A user post a new submission accompanied with a video. Shortly after the submission was made another user accuses the score submission of being cheated. If there was editing allowed in the thread, the user who posted the score would be able to delete the video, change the submission around, and then cancel it. There would then be no evidence to review to support the user's cheating behavior.

Maybe allow for edits within the first 5 minutes of posting, then lock it?

Here's my thinking:

The lack of editing for submissions makes the process of submitting a bit anxiety inducing, because there's no room for mistakes, which people naturally make. It makes it less user friendly by preventing the user from fixing a mistake.

The lack of editing for new tracks is even more significant - getting feedback from others and revising the track would be a bug improvement to the process, making it possible for them to be more collaborative.

I also don't think it should be limited to a time window. Make any edit result in clearing submission votes or resetting and refunding point donations to a new track. This makes sure all votes/donations are for the submission exactly as it is.

Finally, just do some change tracking, and make the revision history public for the submission. Can't hide attempts to cheat that way, since the original info is still there. Also makes sure that when you see your vote was cleared on a submission due to an edit, you can see what was changed and focus that in determining a new vote. This step feels like probably the biggest technical hurdle in the end.

I support making sure the submission system isn't open to be abused. I also think that making it more user-friendly is a big opportunity to improve TG. Think of the bitter taste it leaves for a new user - getting one free submission, can't preview it before submitting, then finding out they made a mistake, and they can't fix it.

OK, I'll bite on this. I, as most of you are very aware, cannot upload to TG. I've tried, it doesn't work. I did just purposefully delete one of my videos (I actually posted a message telling everyone that I did) because I have beaten the score for one, but the main reason is I was cleaning out old/beaten scores from my youtube page.

Anyways, if we can't upload our videos to TG, how are we supposed to "send" them to you? Most of my videos are well over a GB, I probably average about 2.5GB a video. That's only 30 minutes of recording. I won't send an SD Card in the mail. I know there is a limit size on exchanging files through emails as well.

Just curious how myself and others are supposed to handle this since youtube, for me, is the most convenient because it works with no additional work involved? I'm open for how this process works and if it's easy, I'll happily do it. If it requires me spending money, as in shipping, youtube will have to suffice.

@thegamer1185, have you tried using a program such as Handbrake to re-encode your video? I run mine through it to tweak the resolution slightly, and it can significantly reduce the size.

No, I haven't. I just use youtube because it's visible to all people, not just the TG community. I guess if uploading to TG becomes an absolute "only" way to have scores verified, I would have to figure something out.

I'm kind of in the same boat as you @thegamer1185

If my videos are under an hour, I can submit and upload to TG with little difficulty. But god forbid my videos are over an hour trying to upload to this site. For instance, my SNES Dr. Mario video was 4 hours long! I tried to upload to here just to see what happens, didn't even make it past 2%. (lol) Hell it was a long few days until it was finally uploaded to my youtube channel.

But here's my question on all this. How is providing a Twitch link/video any different than using YouTube?

Hi All

Thanks for sharing your concerns . Its not an absolute necessity to upload videos on Twingalaxies . We just want to encourage people to upload videos to TG for the following reasons

1) TG videos are visible to all . They are not private . Videos are linked to the scores submission which is an evidence that you achieved the score . TG does not gain anything with this .

TG invests money to keep the videos saved and linked to the scores. TG cannot control third party sites . Users can delete evidence any time .We want all our scores fully backed by non editable evidence to avoid disputes in future .
" Dragster dispute is a perfect example. If TG had a supporting video then the dispute would have been resolved by now "

2)If the users provide a twitch link our servers internally download the video and upload to TG servers .

3) If you are facing problems uploading, you are welcome to upload the videos to youtube but please let the admin staff know about this . We will work with you to edit the submissions and upload the videos to Twingalaxies and lock your score evidence .
