Display ESI alongside the scores.
Don't automatically show the rules - compress the view so that it appears more of a list and the longer track titles are easier to compare to each other.
Have automated groups/categories of tracks where a game has more than one page of tracks.
Be able to compare two individual's scores in a list alongside each other - include entries where only one gamer has a score (leave a blank for the other gamer).

Extend the listing options beyond 100 - 250 and 500 seem good numbers.
In the game listing (not track listing), include the number of unique players per game.

I know this would take a while, but adding team submission functionally. I think it would be favored by the competitors who like to play team games. To see all the names of the players on the team listed on the scoreboard that just the one.

Thanks,

The world rankings page is clunky. Particularly trying to filter by platform or game doesn't feel user-friendly.

When viewing a specific track you need to click "View" multiple times to get back to the full list. It would be nice if this was fixed.

When submitting a new score the formatting is pretty awful. The BBCode buttons only work half the time, and formatting doesn't get retained properly when copying or pasting. The "Auto-Save" feature that is intended to save recent drafts doesn't work at all.

When filtering the Submission Reviews by platform the same threads will loop multiple times, making it confusing to sift through.

When viewing a players records there's no hyperlink to their profile.

More drastic changes need to be made here too, but it's the fundamental "quality of life" improvements like this that I think really shouldn't be overlooked.

Start improving the quality of life around here, and the bigger picture should paint itself.

If TwinGalaxies is looking for help in the web development department, I would be interested in offering a helping hand.

First of all, thank you for this. Thank you. I understand you can't/won't do everything but this makes us as a community feel as if we have a voice within reason.

I've always thought sorting the platforms games into a compiled list that included a few details about the game would be very helpful and easy for comparing games. Something like this is what I had in mind.

Title.........# of Tracks..........Top player..........ESI.............Number of submissions

Very simple list with basic information right up front. If players wish to know more, they can click on it to expand the tracks. This would allow for several hundred, or all games, for a platform to be right there on one page for comparison. Give each column a sortable function, A-Z for the title/players column and a highest/lowest for the # of tracks/ESI/participants.

I also believe the rules and guidelines need updating. Mainly the use of "mist use original hardware". It's just not the case anymore. Insert the Everdrive discussion here. To tie along with that, a comprehensive list of what IS allowed for each platform would be fantastic. Some things I've brought up in the past are the Sega Genesis controller be used on the Atari, or that the Super Game Boy is not an allowable device to be used for speed runs. The only reason I know these are allowed/not allowed is because @Barthax has been around a long time and said as much. There is no one place to look to find these things. I'm sorry, it would be impossible to find everything with the forum messages out there or let alone even think that you would be allowed to use a Genesis controller for the Atari. Why would you? It says I the guidelines it must be original. See what I mean? There are some very good third party wireless controllers now that can be used for the NES/SNES, will they be allowed since other third party controllers I'm sure are being used? I've got an 8BITDO controller that is awesome because I can sit back with no cord. Don't care one way or the other, but they are out there and I think they should be addressed.

Then of course the real thing in my opinion that will eventually need a major discussion. New third party HD clone consoles. Will they ever be allowed? If they are identical to the original will the submissions be separate or grouped with the original hardware? There being more made all the time. Hell, Nintendo is starting to do it with their classic series NES and SNES.

Thanks for reading.

P.S. I absolutely hate that it an automatic DQ to pause a game for recording purposes. I think if a player records for 3 hours more, they should be able to pause a game to stop/start the next part of their submission. Make a rule if your pausing your game, you have exactly 60seconds from the time of the pause to record yourself with a secondary device stopping/restarting your video primary recording device and resuming play. Yes, this rule does involve me heavily. Seriously though, what advantage does one gain by pausing a game to make sure they can keep recording? Just my 2 cents. I understand why this probably won't change, just getting it out there. Could be worse,. I could just send in a picture with my score.

It's permitted in the old rules, see the Marathon section on this topic: https://www.twingalaxies.com/showthre...cord-Your-Game - is equally applicable to modern recording methods where media is the limiting factor (see many of Marc Cohen's pinball attempts). This used to be front-page FAQ information in the old TG but not sure what's happened in the new TG (haven't had reason to check).

It's encouraging that the administration is willing to solicit and implement community ideas. I echo Barthax suggestions regarding more information on the track and game level displays with collapse and expand toggle for track rules.

I have a couple of suggestion that I don't think was mentioned. If so, I'll add my support to those that already voiced these suggestions.

1) Adjudication Filters - The filters reset each time after an adjudication is complete. For instance if I filter to view all pending entries to Angry Birds, I have to reapply the filter and re-select Angry Birds again to adjudicate the next score. A nice update would be to keep the filtered values in place and add a clear/reset filter button instead, allowing the user to determine when to turn off the filter.

2) Track/Variation Search Filter - Similar to above, once the searched information is displayed the filter automatically disappears when pages are manually toggled. For instance if I'm using the search term "missions" for a particular game, the result may yield several dozen tracks. If I click page 2 of the search results, the filter value is removed and back to the beginning, seeing all tracks under that particular game. A nice update would be to keep the filtered values in place and add a clear/reset filter button instead, allowing the user to determine when to turn off the filter.

Thanks!

I'm just posting here to keep track of all the great ideas being said by users. I only point out errors and don't really care how the site it set up since I can mold myself to whatever is done as long as it functions.

Keep up the great work!

Thanks,
I want this to be stressed, this needs to be a priority or at least some update on what's going on with this. I have a few things lined up with different folks and it would be less complicated if they just need their own account instead of making a "joint account" and building that up for submissions. It's been put on hold for me because I've seen some folks already put up multiple player submissions on just one person's account because there will be something implemented in the future for gaming with multiple people. Possibly?

I propose the staff should take time to see the site from the users perspective. This post is a great start, but all it takes to find gaping flaws is browsing, posting, and submitting a score of your own. Any bumps in this process are big turnoffs to a new member looking to get involved.

Thanks for working to improve our experience!

Hi All

Its really great to see that the community is offering help in improving the site .
After reading all the comments we plan to do the following

1) Create a completely new leaderboard page with new filters and let the community provide feedback on the new design and filters .
We plan to finish this in 6 working days .

2) Leave the current scores page as it is . This will let users browse through the current leaderboards without any issues .

Once the new leaderboard is finalized and accepted by the community we will disable the old scores page .

Profile pictures are pixelated when you visit someones profile.

I nearly forgot this, but it drove me insane before.

The ability to truly block a user so you don't see them at all, and they don't see you.

A more obvious way to skip to the last post in a thread would be nice. In the middle of a long auto-scrolling thread, there is not way to skip to the end without simply scrolling all the way down, or clicking on the link when it does appear before the auto-scroll kicks in.

You once had the filter, you took it away.
Please bring back the "search by platform only" feature, so one can view all their scores via other cross methods besides a "game only" search .

1. Can the oldest submissions to pushed to the front of the queue in the submission forum instead of the newest? My thought is this might reduce the backlog of older submissions that have yet to receive the required amount of votes to finalize the outcome of a submission.

2. Is it possible to create optional direct linking to specific topics within the help section? https://www.twingalaxies.com/help.php . This would be convenient for external linking to a specific topic/question within the help section.

Can you confirm how adding a image to a game's main listing is supposed to work?

For this game:

https://www.twingalaxies.com/scores.p...eyword=Columns

I clicked the placeholder image, the window pops up to let me select an image from my computer, I select it, hit ok, then.... nothing happens...

Has there ever been consideration of using thegamesdb.net as a source for data? Game images and box art, for example. It doesn't cover arcade games, but many of the other platforms.

This right here is one of the biggest inconsistencies I have dealt with personally. Thank you for bringing this up Andrew. If you read the link posted here by @Barthax, it gives a play by play of how to record with VHS and then discusses pausing. Here is the main point of the pausing feature "1st - for most modern home console platforms, a "pause" feature exists. In this order, pause your game before the tape runs out, keep recording for a good 10-15 seconds or longer while in pause mode, stop recording and swap to a new videotape, start recording while your game is still paused for a good 10-15 seconds or longer, then unpause and resume gameplay."

So back in the old TG, you could pause your game for a brief period for recording purposes. Now here is what the new TG guidelines say "3.0.b - Can I use "pause" during my marathon?

For the home console format, using pause for any reason is not permitted."

There you have it, inconsistencies. I feel like the old TG rule just makes more sense. I stated this above and I'll say it again. There are many ways you could do this.

Pause the game. Use a secondary device to record yourself stopping/restarting your primary recorder so you have a constant stream of video showing your actions thus eliminating any doubt of a possible lengthy break. You could also use your phone/tablet/anything that is attached to a wireless connection and has the global time settings turned on. You then show the device to the camera showing the time and date as well as your wireless signal. You stop recording with your primary device, then restart it. You then show your phone/tablet at the start of your video showing the same things. Time/Date/Wireless signal and global settings. This proves that your time is being pulled from the internet and not being set by you manually. Un-pause the game and continue.

I have no doubt having read the links Barthax posted that there a many marathon scores submitted to TG that used these tactics. Using the methods mentioned above, I do not see any reason why they should not be allowed.

Another thought... I like what it's trying to do, but it might be time to revisit the way systems are shown on the main scores page (https://www.twingalaxies.com/scores.php). There are just so many different systems there that the large grid of circles and text can be overwhelming. I'm not sure what to suggest here, but I feel there is opportunity to clean this up, make it more organized.

Also... the inconsistency in whether the manufacturer is included in the system name is very inconsistent. Some make sense - Atari 2600, Nintendo Entertainment System - but others feel arbitrary. Sega Dreamcast, Nintendo Wii, Playstation, Xbox.

(Edit: Oops, redundant sentence of mine is redundant!)
