A surprise pick by Echo Fox's top laner Huni helps guide the team to victory in the North American League of Legends Championship Series.

It’s not every day that we see things get shaken up. New players are always interesting to watch, but what really gets the blood pumping is the opportunity to see experienced pro’s playing new champions. For quite a while now the top lane has revolved around the team’s ability to pick the tank that best suits their composition, with the rare occasion that a player is allowed to truly flex their potential and play a champion that can really carry the team. Today, Echo Fox gave that opportunity to Huni with a surprise Yasuo pick against 100 Thieves.

A long-time favourite of Huni, Yasuo has often been used by the fan favourite top laner as a counter to Gnar, a champion that is often seen in the current meta, so when the opportunity arose to try something a little bit flashier than usual, Huni jumped on the chance.

100 Thieves probably knew what was coming, and wisely devoted a lot of resources to keeping Huni from getting too out of control. Unfortunately, Huni is no slouch when it comes to playing while being camped, and this pressure on the top lane allowed his team to flourish in their own right. By the time 100 Thieves realised that they needed to spend some time fighting the rest of Echo Fox, it was almost too late, and their switch in tactics only allowed Huni to do what he does best, farm up and split-push.

At a certain point, Yasuo is just too strong to fight in a 1v1 situation, and the attention that Huni drew from 100 Thieves only allowed his team to continue to seize objective after objective. By the time the dust settled on the arena, Huni may have only amassed a modest stat line of 1/2/3, but his team had accomplished so much, snagging the Rift Herald, two Barons, four Dragons, and every single turret that 100 Thieves had.

It’s not every day that we get to see Yasuo played to his win conditions so perfectly, but then again, it’s not every day that we get to see someone like Huni play this champion. With another victory under their belt, Echo Fox now has another threat that teams must think about when it comes to preparing to do battle.
