OpTic Gaming make a splash in week 5 of the North American League of Legends Championship Series with two surprise picks.

This has been the week of surprises, as another team steps up to pick some underutilized champions on their quest for victory. OpTic Gaming, in their match against the Golden Guardians, have picked Viktor and Draven, bold choices to attempt to snowball early strength into late game power.

Tristan “PowerOfEvil” Schrage chose Viktor for his ability to provide strong crowd control effects, while also dishing out some pretty serious damage, as seen when he was able to snag first blood against his opposing mid laner, Hai “Hai” Du Lam. PowerOfEvil managed to rack up quite an impressive stat-line, going 8/1/4 and showing the other teams why Viktor is a champion you don’t want to let out of control.

Noh “Arrow” Dong-hyeon also picked a first for today, bringing back an old fan favourite in Draven. While Arrow had a more sedate beginning, he quickly proved why Draven can get the fans so excited, when a team fight at the Baron pit quickly netted him a Quadra Kill, and allowing his team to secure the Baron buff. Also boasting an impressive stat-line of 5/1/5, Arrow took The Glorious Executioner all the way into the base of GGS to help his team win their third victory.
