The U.S. National Video Game Team to hold tryouts
Fairfield, Iowa - November 11, 2005 -- The U.S. National Video Game Team will be holding tryouts in New Hampshire over the next three months under the directorship of David Nelson, a noted gaming superstar who holds many world records with Twin Galaxies.
History's first professional video game team, founded by Walter Day of Twin Galaxies on July 20, 1983, is flexing its muscles again, after a considerable period of non-activity.
"Traditionally," says Day, "The U.S. National Video Game Team has been an "All-Star" team that represents the entire United States. "As a team, the U.S. National Video Game Team traveled to Washington, D.C. in August 1983 and issued formal challenges to Japan, Great Britain and Italy, inviting these nations to face America in a video game playoff.
Over the years, the U.S. National Video Game Team has traveled the world and has created many contests and promotions for manufacturers who seek help in marketing their new game releases. In the 1980s, many contests developed by the U.S. National Video Game Team were published in the U.S. edition of the Guinness Book of World Records.
"Today," reveals Day, "the team will continue its tradition of identifying gaming superstars and offer its services to manufacturers who want feedback on their games and need venues to promote their titles. The main emphasis of these programs will be focused on modern console games."
David Nelson, Team Captain of the New England Chapter of the U.S. National Video Game Team welcomes inquiries but warns prospective members that he plans to take it slow and "really scout" out the players before he makes his selections.
