 Challenge Arcade Hosts 2006 Classic Arcade Gaming (dot com) Tournament
Wyomissing, PA -- March 2, 2006 -- The first annual Classic Arcade Gaming (dot com) Tournament will be held this St.Patrick Day's weekend (Friday, March 17th through Sunday, March 19th) at Challenge
Arcade, located in the Berkshire Mall, in the Reading, PA area (which is one hour northwest of Philadelphia). 15 arcade game titles are highlighted in the event, including a majority that
are popular classics from the 80's (like Ms. Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Frogger, and more), plus the famous laser title Dragon's Lair.
Featuring the unique aspect of allowing contestants to actually choose which
titles they will play (6 of their best game score results, out of (optionally) up
to a possible total of 15, will count towards their final result), this tournament
is specifically designed to be geared towards the players. There is a purse of
$375 that will go to finishers in places 1 through 4, and there's even the chance
of additional monies. First, any player setting a new world record on a contest
title will receive double their entry fee (which is $15 for prepays, or $20 during
the event) as a prize; and second, the purse can actually increase, depending on
the number of contestants. For every one that enters past the first twenty, an
additional $5 will go into the purse, and the total amount that can be added is
essentially unlimited !
One other extremely helpful and convenient aspect to this location is that both
food, and lodging, are located in very close proximity. The mall food court is
adjacent to the arcade, and there are three hotels within short walking distance
of the mall.
