Hot sauce manufacturer, Billy Mitchell, has brought together the video game industry and the world of speciality food items in a unique way.
At this weekend's Classic Gaming Expo 2K4, in San Jose, California, Mitchell will unveil a special "CGE2K4" signature brand of hot sauce that will be distributed to select attendees. Only 72 copies of this limited edition have been produced with each bottle individually numbered as part of the run. The bottles will be given as free gifts.
"I wanted to make a series of commemorative hot sauce labels that honor historic moments in the electronic gaming world," explains Mitchell, the owner of Rickey's World Famous Sauce, a Hollywood, Florida-based company.
Rickey's World Famous Sauce, distributed in dozens of countries, has been produced since 1980 and appears in many different varieties, including Jalapeno, Chicken Wings, Cayenne and Habanero Extra Hot Sauce.
Mitchell says: "This is our second commemorative bottle for the gaming hobby. The first was produced for the Funspot Classic Gaming event, held in Weirs Beach, NH in June, 2004."
Mitchell plans to issue further bottles this summer celebrating diverse milestones, like the new world record on Galaxian recently submitted to Twin Galaxies.
"We plan to make these bottles valuable collectibles in the gaming world," says Mitchell. "I doubt the recipients will actually use the hot sauce because the bottles will be traded and collected instead." |
