Many have called Tetris the greatest game ever created. Tetris was created by Russia's Alexey Pajitnov of the Moscow Academy of Sciences in 1985. A simple concept, take seven blocks called "Tetraminoes", and one empty well and you have the recipe for instant gaming addiction.
He derived the name Tetris from the Greek numerical prefix "tetra-", as all of the pieces contain four segments, and tennis, Pajitnov's favorite sport. But enough of the history lesson.
Tetris can be found for most systems and in several variations which brings us to Tetris DX.
Tetris DX - Marathon Mode was Neil Gewirtz's game of choice for his first TG record submission. Neil played for about 2 hours and 8 minutes and when all the blocks had fallen, so had 2 records.
Neil scored 2,426,967 points, more than doubling the record set by Harry Hong in October of 2005. He also scored 2,349 lines, shattering Lori Baker's record of 841 Lines.
Congratulations Neil! |
