BREAKING NEWS: New Fastest Completion Record Set for "Super Mario World" (SNES) As reported on November 27th, 2007
It's been over three years since the great battle between Adam Sweeney and Scott Kessler on Super Mario World. Back in 2004, these two gamers sent several submissions as the speed record changed hands over and over. The race finally ended in a photo finish, with Adam setting the record at 11:09, just one second ahead of Scott. At this time, it appeared that this game had reached its limits and that no gamer could beat it any faster, at least by a decent margin. Oops...
In one brilliant stroke, Andrew Gardikis has changed all of that. It is my great pleasure to announce that Andrew has set a new standard for the fastest completion of Super Mario World. His time: 11 minutes, 1 second (11:01)! In beating the old record by 8 seconds, Andrew managed to shave time off in almost every level, with an awesome combination of speed, strategy and precision. In particular, the final battle against Bowser was a sight to see...it was just a few frames away from being absolutely perfect!
Andrew is no stranger to Mario records, as this is his third world record on a Mario game this year! Andrew recently set the speed record on Super Mario Bros. 2 for NES. Back in May, he also tied the speed record for the original Super Mario Bros. for NES, which is considered by many to be a perfect game and one of the "holy grail" records of speed running.
We can only wonder what's next for this great gamer, as he has definitely put on a show in 2007. Congratulations! |
