Ms Pac Man Arcade
Hi All,
I'm new to TG, but I was looking for more information on purchasing a Ms Pac Man machine and thought this would be a good place to find out more. I recently rediscovered the joy of Ms Pac Man. There is actually a sticky post in this forum that fits right in with my question (see the Multicade post). I'll just post my questions and concerns below and hopefully some of you can help.
* I'm looking for a legitimate Ms Pac Man machine that would qualify for high scores with TG
* I'd like to get one with the fast option, but if that's not possible it's OK
* I see some available on eBay but I'm not sure how to tell if they're legitimate or not
* I'm in the NY/CT area but would travel a few hours for pickup if necessary
* Does anyone know a reputable seller in my area that might have a machine available?
* How do I know what board is actually in the box and that it'll pass TG muster?
* What types of questions or provenance should I be asking to potential sellers?
* Was the fast option available on the original boards?
* Basically, how do I know I'm getting an original machine or valid re-release and not some knockoff?
Thanks,
KOZ

Update: So I have someone with an original Ms Pac Man board that has been modified to include Pac Man, Pac Man fast, Ms Pac Man and Ms Pac Man fast. I assume based on other posts that this wouldn't be accepted for submissions at TG, but does anyone know about the gameplay on these mods? It's fine if I can't submit any games, but would this board allow me to practice with the original gameplay when I'm not on an original board.
Thanks,
KOZ

Hi Ryan
The game play for all of these games on a original ms. pac-man PCB - converted to a multi-rom PCB are exactly the same as the original for all of them. Even if it was a multipac kit with the original roms. Most cases bootlegs are used but originals are also used.
To know if the original ROMS was used look for Midway on the ROMS, what do you see?
TG is very particular to use the original PCB and the original ROMS for record tracking. The reason is that some "experts" could argue if the PCB was changed then could it effect the random generator for better fruit , even if only a multi-kit was added to the original ms. pac-man PCB. I do not know - would be nice to hear from others what there opinion would be on this one - which modifications would be acceptabel or not? if none - then so be it....
BUT.... the good news is we can open a track under arcade called multi-pac then those scores can be submitted under arcade under that track.
I notice there is already a track called "--- XXX-1 Multi-PCB[Arcade]" which I am the founder of together with Mark Hoff.
The track is hidden in a sense people will not see this one if it is not searched for specific "multi".

Mark is very helpfull and has assisted me getting an original ms. pac-man PCB from DavesArcade
(www.davesarcade.com). Thereafter my brother has shipped it to me from the USA to South Africa.
NOTE: I will only be playing Ms. Pac-Man after my Master degree studies during the course of next year.
