APB
I noticed that my former score for APB has vanished from the listings; I'm assuming it was revoked at some point due to non-verification. Which is fine, though I'm curious about when this happened (I really am not an active member of the high-score community any longer, but just sort of happened by here while searching for other information).
I may make my way to some event to 'prove' the validity of the score someday, but, quite honestly, APB is not a game that is very agreeable with long term play - I was getting a bit loopy near the end when Freddy Freak was the only criminal left to catch every other level. /shrug

APB Score
Hi Greg:
I believe I know what happened to your score. Back when I was a referee, this score did not ever come up as one which we questioned in terms of validity, starting point, settings, etc. Therefore this must be one of the group that somehow made it into the 1st TG Book of Records while not yet entered into the formal database.
Walter catches these periodically, and while it is somewhat surprising that a such a score in letter \"A\" is inconsistent with the current TG database, it is not impossible.
I'm no longer a referee, but advise that you send Kelly Flewin a PM to petition reinstatement of the score. It is do-able and there was never a reason that it was DQ'd thru Dec/06...it must have been an ommission.
Good luck with the reinstatement. Kelly's account is easy to spot to send a PM as he is a moderator on several thread categories.

Robert,
I've tried to send Kelly a PM myself, but I never got a response. Not sure if I'm intentionally being ignored here or if its just backlog. If I am being ignored, then I apologise for whatever I might have done. Just need someone to contact that will actually accept my current record submissions I'm working on.

Kell's Busy Lately
Hi Wolff:
Kelly's been quiet lately...I've been trying to contact him as he's starting work on the MK64 split and I was volunteering work on formatting the EXCEL source document for player/score upload. He must be busy on the home front, I have to imagine.
Wow...it's been awhile, I have to reply to your PM and fill you in on some things, one of which is that I am no longer a TG referee since Dec19 in case you are unaware.
How's Mike, by the way ?

What submissions are you working on? I have one final tape to finish watching and I'm done for the time being. If I have knowledge of the game/platform I could accept it. If it's arcade then I will have to plead technical ignorance.
I have worked on arcade games innards once, but Joust was the only one I could fix (replacing a fuse). The other non-working games had unfortunately been nests for squirrells for an unknown number of years and all the manuals had been transformed into nests. I've got to find out if that campground is still in buisness.

The 1.002M
Hi QBert:
The submission is in the 1st TG Book of Records as follows...
Page 52
Score - 1,002,324
Player - Greg Gibson
Where - Placentia, CA
Date - 1/23/88
Verification method - unknown
Referee - unknown
Scores from that era should be attributed to Walter Day. Verification method should be left as \"Unknown\" or whatever you all choose. Perhaps Greg will respond with more information which would be helpful. I'd send him a PM if you could, but really this score should be reinstated,
I believe. It was merely an oversight that it was left off.
While I know that some scores from the 1st Book had also been inadvertently left off and since reinstated, this one obviously had not been entered to the TG database. A few were in the 1st Book and intentionally left off as they were later disproven (ex: 6M on \"Krull\"), or in the case of some records, might be in \"hiatus\" mode pending additional verification/decision-making, and in many cases, the records indicating \"Finished\" were unilaterally excluded from the current TG database, as were other records in categories since closed out (ex: 864 on Atari 2600 Breakout game 1, Mario 64 coins in Big Boo's Haunt and others).

Ok, I'll check into that one. I was asking what FirebrandX is working on.

This score has never left the scoreboard. I can confirm the score is currently designated as unpublished. We are looking further into the circumstances behind this change.

I'm glad to finally see something somewhere stating this score is valid and did not use the "train glitch" I have read about recently. Since APB is easily one of my favorite games, I have been looking for this for a while. I had no idea you eventually keep catching Freddy Freak every other day.
Greg, if you are out there anywhere and see this, I would love to ask you some questions about the game and how you managed to get that score. I've been at 215k for a while, but I just got my own machine at home to keep working on it. I would love to be able to validate and vote up your 1988 score. I would love to chase said score, even if I never get there. Please, please reach out to me if you ever see this so we can solidify your place in history.

I heard from Dwayne Richard on this score just the other day, by coincidence...
"robert greg gibson apb was witnessed by jeff peters and us national video game team when walter didn'town the scoreboard. i talked to jeff aobut that recently and gregs score is good."
Once Jace has his current project(s) completed then all the rest...score challenges, score re-instatements, etc, all should come into play.
