Difficulty: Medium
NOTE - single player ONLY
Good luck on your quest, that's a monster score to chase down, but anything is doable, with enough practice!
Heck, I never thought anybody would beat the original WR of 3,481,550 by Perry Rodgers but it happened.
I can tell you this much about Mario Bros. It's one heck of a great game and probably one of the top 3 (if not the best) 2-player game of all time. Another good thing about it is the different difficulties turns the game into a whole new & different challenge.
Because of the backwards dip switches on MAME there are now two tracked difficulties (Medium & Hard). Both are such great variations.
Good Luck and keep me informed of your progress. What is your high score now?
Stephen, do you know what the gameplay differences are between medium and hard? Was playing one on location recently and it definitely wasn't on easy as the blue fireball came out quite quickly and 2 red fireballs appeared earlier than easy setting, so I was curious if you knew the what changes on the hard setting.
I used to be VERY familiar with the Hard settings but it's been a few good months since I've played MB's. However, from memory it's just how fast those fireballs start out. It totally changes the patterns between Medium & Hard. Everything else, I believe, are the same speed. I know the blue fireballs start out faster and the red fireball that just moves everywhere starts out faster as well. You have to clear the screen ASAP or it gets totally crazy. Check out my Hard replay on MAME.Quote:

Odd.
All the Mario Bros. games I've played produced green and orange fire balls. (Not red and blue).
Are you guys color blind?

 I know they are green and orange but I also know what they are talking about so I just go with it.Quote:
