(Too?) High records in Sonic R and Die Hard Triology, Saturn
As I checked through the records for Die Hard Triology for Sonic R and Die Hard Triology, I noticed some scores that made me quite puzzled. The scores in question are Elijah parkers records of Fastest Race on track Radiant Emerald in Sonic R and the point record in Die Hard Triology.
According to the scoreboard, Elijahs time on Radiant Emerald was 1:41.640, and this makes me wonder how that's possible. I have played this course an awful lot of times, and there is absolutely no way I can get below 2 minutes and 25 seconds on this course. This is what a typical race would look like in my case:
Lap 1:
I can't open the first shortcut in the beginning, because it is not possible to have 50 rings already by then to open it. It is possible to open the second shortcut though, and I always do that on the first lap. Of course, I keep gathering as much rings as possible to open the first shortcut on lap 2. Without making any flaws in particular, the first lap goes about 55 seconds, with Super Sonic.
Lap 2:
I open the first shortcut, as I have 50 rings by now, and I also have about 20 rings to get a reasonable speed boost on the ring booster. Then, I use the second shortcut once again on this lap. This lap goes about on 48.5 seconds.
Lap 3:
By now, I have 50 rings and is able to use both shortcuts, and Im also able to use the speed booster to the maximum. Lap time about 43 seconds.
I really don't understand how it is possible to do this track any faster. If Elijahs time record indeed is correct, then it means that he had an average lap time of about 33.5 seconds, even on lap 1 when no shortuctes are open. How is that possible?
I don't mean to question any referee, specially not Walter Day, as he verified the record live, but there is something really strange, in my humble opinion. Or is the Radiant Emerald course any differnt to the PAL version, like, is it shorter?
If anyone managed to get even below 2 minutes on this course, I'd be most grateful if anyone could tell me how he/she was able to perform it.
Elijah also set the record of 67,141,200 in Die Hard Triology, and I somewhat feel this is a strange score also. My first question is, in which of the three games did he perform that score, and second, how was it possible to gain such a high score?
I wish to rule out Die Hard II - Die harder, of the reason that this is an automatic scrolling game, where it is not possible to leech the slightest, and the reason that there are simply not enough enemies to gain such a score. I have played through the first two stages in that game (I didn't reach much further, I admit), and had the score of about 1.5 million points as I finished stage 2. I believe there are about 10 stages in this game mode, so I immeditaly rule out the possibility of getting 67 million points in this game mode.
The same thing goes for Die Hard III. This racing game has time limits, so there is no way you could leech in that game either. I believe that game has about 15 stages, and as I finished stage two, then again I had about 2 million points. Thus, I rule out the possibility of getting 67 million points in this game mode also.
And that leaves me with Die Hard I. It is possible, in theory to get this score in this game mode, but this requires an awful lot of leeching, which would be killing terrorists as soon as they exit the elevator, while not saving any hostages. There are about 25 stages in this game mode, and as I finished the first five levels (I could have continued much longer), I only had 1.4 million points, which means that I probably would have had about 7-8 million points when the game had been completed (and I did complete the game once, but I dont remember my score. But it was nowher close 67 millions) As I read a faq on gamefaqs, the author of the faq, had his record about 9 million points also, which makes perfect sense (the faq was Playstation, but the score system seems to be exactly the same for the Saturn). So again, I wonder...how is this possible? If anyone managed to get even above 15 million points, I really would like to know how that was performed.
I want to point out that I have absolutely ***no intention whatsoever*** to question Walter Day's judgement or Elijahs performance, but there is just something that feels strange. I practise fair play like everybody else (hopefully) and just wonder if any alternate versions could be involved, or if there (*hides*) have been any mistake made somewhere.
Any comments would be greately appreciated. Again, I accuse nobody. I just want to know, nothing else. :)

I don't know anything specific about these two games, but it sounds like maybe you should submit a score, become a contender, and then challenge the scores. There's info on the challenge process around here somewhere, but I can't seem to find it at the moment.
