Does anyone know if scores have been accepted using either of the PowerPaks? If so, I can add them to the "Allowed" list to keep it up to date.
Is the LTO Flash acceptable for the Intellivison? http://ltoflash.leftturnonly.info/
I don't know, but I'm willing to bet that @Intellivision Master will have an opinion on this.
Response to JBanks and the community:
I own an LTO Flash Cart.
The LTO Flash is a Flash cartridge that plugs into the Intellivision console ... You can download ROM's onto it from your computer then play the Cart on the console.
If there was only one source to download ROM's and we can trust the code, I would say "sure".
The problem is we have no idea how legitimate the code is on each ROM.
My instincts say - you must use an original cartridge for each game to enter a score on Twin Galaxies.
There's plenty of programmers out there who can change any part of any ROM on any game.
I bought my LTO to purchase homebrew games that aren't available on a cartridge.
If someone has a suggestion; please comment.
I researched a little more on Intellivision ROM's on the internet. I found two websites that allow you to download the ROM for a lot of the games ... so I downloaded eight games to test them out. The game-play is identical to my cartridges. I can't tell the difference. That's reassuring to me.
The problem for me is ... there's probably somewhere on the internet where there's cheat versions of the ROM's or .. "will be" cheat versions at any time in the future. Just adding 50 points to a bonus part of a game .. slight changes are very easy to program ... and no-one in the world (except for me and a small hand-full of others) would know the difference.
My opinion is that it's too easy to have a hacked version of a ROM to allow a flash-cart for a WR on TG.
If there was some way to prove the source of the ROM ... and a way to prove that this particular source provides IDENTICAL code to the cartridge; I would be ok with it.
These are just my opinions.
Lto is no different from Everdrives and Harmony and Flash Carts
roms are all over and it's easy to tell the roms
USA roms are always u! or by default !
02 03 are rom changes For shark shark there is ONLY ONE
We accept all flash and harmony and multi carts
so you except one you accept all
That's fine...
Intellivision players on TG and
Intellivision players who won't join TG ... don't consider a ROM score an Intellivision score.
It's not on the Intellivision cartridge .... PERIOD.
@Jace Hall is probably too young to understand what the Intellivision is ... what it meant to video gaming ... how classic it is. He probably considers it an outdated console and "who cares anyway" type of attitude.
To allow ROM's for Intellivision scores is a SIN
You can't use a ROM and consider yourself an Intellivision player.
Jace, the cartridges ... there are millions and millions and millions and millions of cartridges lying around ... for $3 each. What the F is the problem? Are TG members that poor? How do you afford your monthly internet server? and all your video equipment?
Hey Al,
Jace had nothing to do with the decision to accept flash carts. You can see this thread was started by me, years before he took over TG. Some ex-referees had flashcarts, and others were interested in using them, so I started the thread. I've edited that first post several times, as I was unnecessarily overly cautious years ago and excluded some - There's really nothing holding back all of the well known flashcarts from being used here. They basically all function similarly. It's not all about the cost of cartridges, because as you pointed out, most carts are inexpensive (though it is cool to have a full console's collection at one's disposal). It's also about having access to the rare carts, expensive carts, prototypes that were never released etc. That's where flashcarts really shine. As long as the ROM is legit, it's the same ROM that one will find inside the actual cart. I understand your cautiousness...You love the Intellivision, and fairness....but we, the TG community, are the experts...If someone uses a hacked / bad ROM on purpose, or by accident, we will notice. We've noticed in the past and we'll notice in the future. I think it's ok to let your guard down here :)
