I hear that! You know I'm a big Tom V. fan and I'm definitely pulling for him on this one. :) But right now there's a 1.5 million point differential between 1st & 2nd place, which adds up to roughly 2 hours of gameplay. So I feel Perry has a dominant 1st place score. Tom's score is great though, no doubt! And if anyone's going to beat Perry's score, it'll be Tom.. I've watched all his speedruns..He's a Game Master 8)

I appreciate being mentioned on this list (even if it is not unanimous).

I think Gary Whelan - Galaxian should be mentioned.

Great, fun topic! First, thanks for the votes on MB. It is definitely my favorite classic game of all time. I'm convinced that Tom has the skills and determination to break my score - His 1.9M was no fluke. If someone has to do it, I'd like it to be him. Great guy and my MB doubles partner afterall! But for the time being, I appreciate being nominated to the list.

    My thoughts:

Far and away the best performance that I witnessed 'back in the day' was Phil Britt playing Paperboy - Smooth as silk. I remember watching him play at an arcade in LA, I believe it was Pac-Man arcade. Perfection, imo!

I think Ken Okumura's Food Fight marathon score of 103,103,100 should also be considered. Ken, Greg Jew, and I all played the game while at college in San Luis Obispo. Ken took it to a new level and we all wondered if the game would display 100,000,000. Sure enough it does. I witnessed his 103M game.

To date, I would give Gary the nod on Galaxian, especially if he ever turns in his 860K+ tape! I say 'to date' only because we know of another Brit that has claimed scores of 1M+. Gary has spoken to him and believes that he is legit and that he will be getting a game and is determined to prove it. Then again, might be best to ignore 'rumors' until proven and give Gary the credit he deserves - But turn in the tape already! ;-)

Interesting to me that Billy on DK has not been nominated yet. I would vote it in since he has successfully defended Steve Wiebe's challenge these past couple of years and bumped his score over 1M. This one is more subtle - Though the scores are relatively close, I think it could be argued that Billy's knowledge of the game, point pressing skills, etc. separates him from others. I don't know the game that well though, so interested to hear other opinions.

    My two cents

    UNDISPUTED Champions?

Let's not put the cart before the horse. Only the test of time and
deviation between scores can make the ultimate decision as to
what scores will stand and which will go to dust. One does not
have a crystal ball, and rather than guess which non mature
scores might last for millennium lets look at the scores which
    have already proven themselves.

I have a recent high score on a game that took me over 41 hours
to get but since this score has not been measured against time
and is not a seasoned mature high score, I do not know how good the
score is until 10 or 20 years from now, even though the previous
mature record stood for over 20 years.

There may be another Donald Hayes in 5 or 10 years who will
take down all of our scores.

We have also gotten other big surprises like Brian Kuh's (16) world
    records in one day.

    Brian Kuh's 16 World Records:
GOOGLE: Brian Kuh 16 world records

The other big surprise was Mike Sao Pedro Funspot player of the year 2006.

Speaking of Joust from the above comment, I seriously doubt that the
seasoned score of James Vollandt of Playing Joust over Sixty-Seven
Hours at the 1st Annual Twin Galaxies Iron Man Contest will ever be
    beaten.

I could never find a Food Fight where the joystick could handle me. hehe

I remember doing something around 20 million though before the controller gave out.

I wouldn't call 100 million a marathon though since that is likely what...a 6 hour game at most?

Each level takes only a few seconds... :P

    How'd I get into this? I'm just a console gamer! :)

Seriously, Perry's MB score is one of the best gaming records out there, in my opinion. It's been 20 years and no one has been able to come even close! Fun person to talk to as well. I hope both of us can make it back to Funspot next year...We need to do better on doubles!

Undisputed is David Palmer's Star Wars at TG tournament settings.

Very few records would be in category unbeatable/never to be beaten. IMO nearly all/all records can be beaten, if you have some talent and plenty o' time, most importantly dedication.

well, if you want to go into likely unbeatable records, there are many more...but not what I would term undisputed champions.

    for example...

    Tim McVeigh's 1 billion Nibbler.

Many including myself have mastered this game...but would any of us play it for 45-50 hours?!?!?

very unlikely anyone would do that on this title. I have played it for 10-12 hour runs and stopped...and the next day could barely move my fingers...but that was playing in mame on my keyboard using same hand the entire time.

same for many other marathons...none of these are undisputed champions though IMHO....just not many who have an interest in playing one game for 50+ hours. :P

    it's a separate category

How about Jason Cram for Congo Bongo....1.5 million points?

did he reach a kill screen here or actually end the game or lose his men?

that is amazing to play that far into the game with only 4 men.

It would be nice if the TG scoreboard had some platform general text display of the top or top 3 scores for each track that a gamer could generate and save to a file.

We then could easily look this over for topics like this to see what clear records are out there.

It also makes for easier lookup if you wanted to check scores for many games. It's tedious only able to view 1 track at a time.

Got a bit more in July as well but it's not up yet.
