    misterdriller.com now open!

Edit: Updated thread on 12/18/08. Please see below.

I have been practicing for an inaugural WR on Mr. Driller arcade. The current high score on MARP is 867,515. Last night while I was practicing I scored 876,095 using the same settings that were used for the MARP score. I plan to submit an arcade score for TG in the near future. In the past I remember scoring over 900,000 but I'm not sure what settings the machine were on. Do any of you play this game or any versions of it? If so, can you comment on scoring and perhaps techniques for getting more points? Please base your comments on the assumption of a perfect game (no air missed, no life lost). Thanks.

Update: new high score 900,055! I broke 900k YES!!!!!!

    That is amazing!! :P :P

    I can't finish the 1000m so I am impressed. (My best = 260k on 500m)

I don't really have much tips, but I did read something about this game and max point potential on the MARP forums about a week ago, so if you haven't seen it by chance, check it out.

    And again, excellent score!!

Thanks! Yeah I saw the thread on the MARP forum. I was actually playing with those guys in Portland last weekend. I don't know why but I can't seem to get registered on the MARP forums.

Anyway, based on a few games where I tried things a little differently. I think it's entirely possible to score 900,000+. I would really like to submit my record with that high of a score. After I submit a score on Mr. Driller, I'm going for Mr. Driller 2. I recently purchased the arcade board for it so now all I need is a cabinet.

Keep drilling and let me know when you beat that 1000m!

I had trouble as well. If it's about waiting forever to get authorized, that was the same problem I had as well. The board used to mention a couple of people to contact... but since they changed board software it doesn't mention it anymore. *looking at old emails* I ended up contacting Barry Rodewald and he got me all set up in less than a day. Could have just got lukcy with that... but if getting registered is your problem, then try contacting him.

What MARP forum names are you guys registered under? Post here or send me a PM and I'll help make sure they get activated. Sorry for any delays you ran into. I'll also follow up on making sure even there is a link to the contacts for activation under the new forum software.

That game runs VERY slow on my PC. Of course I do plan on building a new PC soon. My PC is about 6 years old.

So you guys can get this game to play pretty fast on your PC in MAME? And if so then how about any other CHD games? I would really love to play NFL Blitz but it's just not going to happen how I'm setup now.

One of the reasons that I just got a new PC was Mr Driller (Oblivion being the other). My old PC (1.5Ghz overclocked to 1.8, 512MB RAM, NVidia 440 Ti) didn't come close to getting the required frame rate. My new quad core, 4GB, GT8800 however has no such problems. The whole system (bar monitor) was less than ?500 from Dabs to boot.

Well, my system from 6 years ago to now is no where near that fast. What slowed me down from buying new toys was having 2 kids. I did just get a bonus from work but do I spend it on a new PC or a joystick like this? Hmmmmmm :?

I'm don't really need to be on the MARP forum. It's not that I don't like MAME, I have actually never used it. It's just that I only play in the arcade anyway.

    So any insight into scoring?

    -Thanks
