    GORF Question

    I just purchased a GORF Machine

    and it seems a whole lot harder than I remember



    my question..... is there different versions of the game

    I have the Dip switch correct

    Yes. There are two different rom sets. One is harder than the other as far as I know.

    There are proper experts here who could elaborate further for you.

    I know for sure a couple ways to tell if you have the harder ROM. On the laser attack, shoot everything but one of the laser shooting aliens. If you CAN'T hide on the far left side of the screen without getting killed, this is the harder ROM. If you can sit there on the left side and not be killed this is the easier one. Also, on space warp if any given alien shoots more than 8 fireballs at you before it exits the screen, this is the harder one. The easier one will be 8 or less fireballs at any level. I know the flagship shoots an unreal amount of fireballs too, on the harder version, but I'm not sure a person who hadn't played in a long time could distinguish either version by the flagship alone.

    I am curious to know if there is a world record recognised for the hard version of the game? On this site I just see the 3 ships and 6 ships records.
