Restoring factory defaults on the arcade version doesn't reset the level order. Only way to do that is to remove and replace the nvram chip or erase the data with a rom writer.

4.4M is a totally crazy score but I guess, if you can stay alive and marathon the game, then it could go even higher.

I did a unrecorded score on my personal machine a couple of years ago. Could of carried on playing but killed it off. So wish I recorded it at the time. Name: image.jpg

Yea man, I learned to always record my games when I play unless I'm simply limited for time and it's just a one hour practice session.

I'm going to get back into playing gauntlet and record a score. Back when I did that score I was playing every night when I got the machine.

One of my favorite comments on any MARP submission is the one on TER's 22,222,222 submission on Gauntlet (rev 1): "Mar 14-19! Level 1000+54. Contains screenshots of some notable moments, but warning: zipfile > 210MB."

So a FIVE DAY MAME replay with no pausing (although he did take breaks).

I saw that replay on marp.i once did a run of all levels on mame it took a few days getting a couple of hours sleep hoping I'd not died off while away lol.
Rev 1 is full of food and walls don't turn to exits.

Yeah, the early romsets give so much health you can take tons of breaks. TER also has the comment on his Gauntlet rev 9 submission at MARP, "Elf, Level 304. Apologies again, frequent long breaks for sleep, meals, normal life things etc. Eventually died because I misjudged how long it would take to do the grocery shopping."

Yep, the common dilemma of competitive gaming, dying because you misjudged how long grocery shopping would take.

Yeah lol normal life gets in the way of gaming. I don't think taking long breaks would be allowed on the arcade track. I'd love to try it one day all 999 levels but I think the machine would die first especially after a week.
