RTM REPLY - I personally verified the 4.4M by Charles Nagle back when I was operating as chief referee for Twin Galaxies. Seems like that has been beaten by Dwayne Richard since then, another very accomplished and widely recognized classic arcade gamer.
For players that know what they are doing, and I am sure that Dwayne did as well, accumulating a massive health reserve is entirely possible. I can't remember what character Charles used, nor if I even mentioned that in an accompanying article as some aspects of world records were kept secret at the request of the submitter back in those days. I have no idea what Dwayne used, or if each of the playable characters is possible to use for marathon gameplay on this title.
Dwayne used wizard the last 30 mins of his gameplay was on Justin tv before it got shut down if I recall he did around 320 levels.

Just before 10 million
Cool how long did that take? Was it arcade version?
This is the arcade version. Played this game around October 1986 for 36 hours, scored 25,100,000. The picture above should say just before 20 million. After level 999 the game returns to level 8. I made it to level 1,260.
Frogger ------ 294,150 (1982) - Galaga ----- 4,800,000 (1983) - Pac-man -- 3,166,150 (1983) Reached Split Screen
Q*Bert ----- 8,000,000 (1983) 16 hours - Gauntlet - 25,100,000 (1986) 36 hours
