    Assault

I've been playing this game a bunch lately. I wanted to find out if you get 200k per life that you have left over if you finish the game on 1 credit. Well I finally did
it and found out that it doesn't award any extra points for lives left over at the end of the game. Assault + does so I was trying to see if the original did as well.
Is there anyone else out there that is in to this game. Does anyone know what the record is from Japan. Since the game is Namco manufacturing and released by
Atari. I figured and heard that Japanese loved this game and so someone would have maxed out the game over there. Currently my best is 692k making it to the
final stage of 11 but not finishing the game on that attempt. I believe that the max should be around 750k + or - 25k.

I looked at an old copy of GHEMANT's database of Arcade scores from Japan and it lists 3 scores for Assault:

    TEA’S-D - JAPAN VERSION - 1.061.150 - REMAINING 0 (3 LIVES SETTING)
    HIKYAKU-REYS - NEW VERSION - 941.200
    NOB.TAT - NEW VERSION - 945.960 - MAYCOM SCORE

Most of the scores GHEMANT tracked are from the GAMEST (formerly ARCADIA) magazine, but the "MAYCOM" score was from another Japanese magazine "Micom".

I have no idea what the difference is in romsets, but based on those scores it looks like there may be more points in the game that you haven't found so far.

They probably are point pressing those extra lives.

Thanx guys for the above database scores that you have.
Not sure what version I'm playing. I'm gonna have to get a joystick setup for mame and explore the differences to find out I guess.
I have mapped out the levels and found everything that I'm aware of in the game. I doubt that I'm missing 300k worth of points. The game only has so much to offer
unless there is some secret level or something. I guess that the Japanese version could award extra points for lives in reserve, based on that then yes those scores
would be about right. 2 lives left and an average completion of a game around 600-650k would yield around the 1.05 mill mark.
