    game powered on before recording

Does the game recording need to start before turning the game on or can it already be in demo made? Want to avoid invalidating a score.

The guidelines are simply "provide as much evidence as possible". That said, if you provide footage of a game without covering all the rules in the track or a game with known cheats: if your evidence doesn't prove they're enabled/disabled/not active [or whatever interpretation makes sense for the rule/cheat], then you leave your claim open to interpretation. Cover all the bases as best you can. ;) Note that "covering all the bases" can also mean explaining something in writing: not everything has to be proven via video but it really helps & will depend on the game.

    Are you on my radar?
I'd rather be last on every game than throw my time away chasing only one score.

Thanks Barthax. Main concern was turning game on/off a lot. Seeing boot up is probably best. Also plan to show board for dip switch settings in same video. Game is time pilot 84 and im not aware of any cheats. BTW, see u submitting many scores and ive approved a few. Kudos for getting on so many high score boards.
Thanks Barthax thanked for this post

What one keep the machine on, play 1 coin game at a time and when ready for recording.
Start recording when the "initial screen/demo" play starts, pl;ay the game, after game ends, then reboots to show the bootup screen and dip settings..?

This is to eliminate boot each time , switch off and on the machine each time. So only doing that after recording and one knows this recording is the real-one then
    do the switch on/off ect..?

It's actually a pain in the ass but if you want a record you will do your best, In my opinion do whatever you can to prove it's legit. If you are limited in money , camera etc present what you can.

Why was a rule introduced to reboot an Arcade machine before recording a game-play?

An Arcade machine was not design to be rebooted multiple times and also it is not natural in setting nor practical in Arcade centers?

Some argue if one does not reboot before a game play you could get potentially have an advantage because of some PCB registers not clear ect..

Why is it necessary if the machine was designed to be on and played as is, continuously...

I am stating there is no advantage - if everybody just play the machine as it is design for to be and only restarts afterward an record attempt
to show the startups and demo screens ect..

These restarts I think is an old rule , is there much more of speculation in this area or facts? - just play the machine as it is designed for....continuously....

Francois I'd say it's NOT a rule. Including a video isn't even technically a RULE but in this day and age of TGSAP everyone requires a video to be able to vote in confidence.

That being said, the VAST majority of arcade platform submissions I've adjudicated show someone making their run, then cracking open the cabinet to prove that the dip switches are setup in accordance with the score track. No setup at the beginning, really, because you don't know when you're going to hit your big run. Make sure the machine is setup properly, then start recording your performances, and when you hit the big one show everything you can about the cabinet and boards. This, in my opinion, is sufficient evidence. Heck, some games don't even have dip switch settings, so I'd say just point and shoot at the screen while you're playing and that's all you need. Again this is my stance on this and does not reflect any RULES here on TG.

EDIT: If a machine has settings that need to be confirmed using the software (on screen) then that should be done BEFORE any runs are made. Now that I think about it that's probably what you're talking about. But you can just do it at the beginning of the session and you don't have to keep doing it if you have one big video session.

I usually have the game ON when I start my camcorder and then I power cycle the game with the camera running. It shows the bootup. One reason I believe certain games might be easier after so many games played?? Don't ask me which games as it's just something I've heard from the past. I've heard certain things about Zookeeper starting out with the same game each time or after a few games or something or another.
