What is the Scramble World Record? (Stern Version)

The arcade track on TG doesn't specify Konami or Stern:

Does this mean both games would be acceptable to be submitted on that track, even though the Konami version is easier and fuel drains slower?

There is also some confusion going on with Aurcade's track, as I know myself and others have submitted Stern version scores at Galloping Ghost Arcade and Underground Retrocade. I believe these Stern scores to be mixed with Konami version scores from other locations. In my opinion, they should be tracked separately (as they are for the MAME platform), they play different enough.

Just to be clear, I am not questioning the validity of anyone's score or attempting to go for this record myself. Thanks for any help!

Good question I wondered this myself when recently looking at the scoreboard.
Hopefully they aren't mixed up as the versions really are chalk and cheese

I know that Roberts score was done with only 3 lives + 1 and done on the slower fuel consumption romset Konami. Yes both rom sets are used in the arcade version. It's too late to go back and separate them out. The only thing you could do is to make a specific track for the Stern version. It is the better version to compete on as the game will be shorter and not so much as a marathon type.

Correct...I did the current arcade WR at Funspot on 3+1 settings (with Walter watching). If memory serves, I did something like 475-485K on 1st life, then reached 645-685K on 2nd, then broke 1M and reached 1.035-1.065 on 3rd, and died relatively fast on the 4th.

Does not matter that TG settings are 5+1...no need to separate the two, I'm content to be lumped in with 5+1 at this point...it's been almost 15 years so no big deal.

A single, valuable tip from Dwayne Richard that very day, just a few hours earlier, catapulted my personal best as a direct result. He told me the secret to the rocket launches in the Konami city stage which normally accounted for 3/4 or all of my game deaths.

Stern should have it's own track...I thought there was already a provision on MAME, but cannot remember if same was done for arcade as it's been 10+ years since I left TG as an admin.

Correct there are 2 MAME tracks. One Konami and one Stern.

    Hi Pete!
My MAME score was submitted during TG DECA 2005, and it's Stern version, played as "Lives=5 (Extra=10k)".
About the Arcade version, it's necessary to separe Stern and Konami versions, for sure.

RTM REPLY - Did not see this when I first replied to this thread. Not sure what these at-signs mean, but if they are meant to be some form of electronic communication, I haven't any accounts with which to receive them. All I have is my standard E-MAIL provider, and then built-in messaging from both TG and Facebook.
