    User-hosted Tournaments Test Drive

Before the end of the year, we will be rolling out a feature on TG Tournaments that will allow users to go in and set up their own events without any administrative involvement. While this feature is being developed, we'd like to do a stress test of the system, and are inviting TG users to participate in a beta test by hosting their own events on the site.

If you're interested in running your own tournament on TG Tournaments, fill out the form here. Note that this Google Form is temporary, and something much more elegant is coming in the future. 14 days from this post, we'll be reviewing the submissions and choosing a small handful of events that will go live.

You can completely customize what kind of event you'd like to run. The site currently has support for:
    - Individual and team-based events
    - Points-based and percentile-based scoring systems
    - Single game competitions (ex: highest score on Donkey Kong over a weekend)
    - Multi game competitions (ex: IGBY, Yolympics, Crap Tournament)
    - Multi platform competitions
    - Referees
    - Submission security settings (what is required for a score submission in your event?)

If you'd like to have any special rules for your tournament, there is a place at the end of the form to enter those details and if your event is chosen we'll reach out to you about implementing that feature.

Once the user-hosted tournaments feature fully goes live, hosting your own tournament will likely cost a lot of submission points. If you're interested, this is your chance to test the system now for free!

    Hi Wes

For those not familiar with all the event types, pLease give a brief description explaining each of and the difference between the different event types.

    Hi Francois,

Could you be a little more specific? There are tons of possible permutations that can be selected from the form. Is there a specific option that is confusing?

Indv. Game events - only indv scores will count
Team events - based upon best scores of each team member relative to best Top 20. Teams are virtually or randaomly selected?
What is difference between points vs percentile vs Top 20 score based? Can all three scoring mechanism ever work togther or mutually exclusive?
single game - only one game chosen but variation on how scoring is done? Example one hour score versus killscreen versus speedruns?
Multi game more than one game like IGBY
multi platform will be same game over multiple platforms to cover wider audience, also if multi game AND multi plstform then games chosen have to be compareable the same gameplay.
Referees ? Whatfir if we do video recording?

Individual events are just that -- events based around individuals. They are not team events.

Teams can be picked by the user or picked by the host, there is an option for that in the form.

Points is the same thing as top 20 score based. Percentile is awarded based on players' percentages of the #1 score in a game. By nature, an event can only have one scoring mechanism.

Whatever rules are wanted for a game is up to the person running the event.

Multigame is a tournament with multiple games.

You can have referees and video recording, the two are not mutually exclusive.
