Thumbs up EXTREMELY slow site performance...

This has been going on for ages now, before i left infact...

The site is running so, so, SO slowly for me. Whenever i click a link i get "Processing request" in the bottom left and i cannot move the page, close the page, click links or anything till it finishes which takes about 20 - 30 seconds. It's definitely not my machine (Intel Core i5, 16GB RAM, SSD, Nvidia GTX 960) and definetly not my internet (fibre optic 40mbit/10mbit).

It's incredibly frustrating and happens on every single link so anywhere i go i have to sit and wait for 20/30 seconds.

Am i alone here or is this a new bug??!

Ok update on this from me for @Jace Hall @TWIN GALAXIES @admin staff

I came back to see if there was an improvement which there is now. The site is somewhat usable but still has a "processing request" pause especially in the submission review forum although this is GREATLY reduced. Makes adjudicating ten times longer though.

This was using the latest Chrome browser with no extensions installed under the latest build of windows 10. I switched to Firefox which has made the site perfectly usable. No issues, you seem to have an issue with Google Chrome browsers from my experience.

    Just a heads up.

Ok I've worked out what this is, it's actually the chat bar doing it! and as of right now it isn't even functioning under Chrome browsers.
@Jace Hall is there any way to disable the chat bar in our user settings? Would be helpful as it's really effecting Chrome badly!

You may want to clear your cache / close your browser. Everything seems to be working fine for us and everyone we have asked so far (with chrome.)

Nope still doing it. It's usable but still a pain specially in the submission area of the site.

It hangs for around 5 seconds like this with "processing request" in the bottom right.

My chat bar also doesn't list anyone online only FireFox will show me users. It's so strange.

Just a quick update, the site looks to have undergone some updates and the chat bar is gone. With no chat bar the site is flying! Super fast!

Please keep it removed for me or at least give an option to remove it. The site is so much better without it.

I'm curious - there's a symptom I've been getting for some time now which is after a Thanks or a Like the next action can take around a minute. Happens on Firefox (Linux and Windows) and Chrome (Windows) / Chromium (Linux). Worst case seems to be a Thank/Like followed by a "Reply with quote".

Wow, I've never noticed that before but you are right i just tested it with your post above and it wouldn't load after i gave a "like".

The way i got around it (instead of waiting it out) was to open the reply to thread link in a new tab/window, then it loads. How strange!

    Nicely spotted @Barthax

I use Firefox and if I click thanks or like it takes about a minute for the click to acknowledge. Suppose this is built into site function to give me the opportunity to take those complimentary gestures back? It doesn't bother me though. I don't exactly rush around here, but it's been experienced so thought I would share.
