Now that I have watched the correct video it does appear that the cursor has moved which agreed, is not possible without a rest of some sort. I do have to ask this before I get fully on board with you guys. Does completing a dungeon and warping out happen to reset the cursor?

    No, it does not.
Only resetting the game resets the cursor.

So how would one splice a video so seamlessly unless he was using an emulator? You could dispute that part as well. I vote Yes, valid dispute

It was even included in the opening statement that "This only happens if you use a game restart sequence of any kind.", of course, that is if you believe said statement at all...

It's incredibly easy to splice a video. Using an emulator would only make it clear that an emulator was used to begin with, as there are ways to identify this. But you just find a place where the screen fades to black/white and the music dies, then all you need to do is match the amount of black/white frames to be the same. I haven't checked if he did this accurately or not, and even if he did, there are other methods to check if it was spliced as well.

Yeah, I read that first statement, but it never hurts to double check. Especially since I'm one of the people you're trying to convince. Thank you for confirming though. You could understand why asked though. Some game breaks can cause weird things to happen sometimes.

I have something I'd like to say...

I personally verified his earliest OOT speed run which was sent in on VHS tape, and to me they looked good. If "splicing" was done then he did a pretty nifty job of it. Then again his earliest runs were nowhere near as fast as the subsequent runs.

http://www.twingalaxies.com/showthre...456#post559456 - to my best recollection and based on my searching the forum archives, this was his first submission to TG...6 hours and 45 minutes.

I see that in 2005 he has a 5 hour run which I am sure I also verified at the time but I am not 100% sure if that one was submitted on VHS or digital. If he chopped off nearly 2 hours because he digitally spliced then I apologize to everyone for my not catching this in my former capacity as TG referee.

We are all humans afterall =). Even if the two OoT runs I posted in this thread are really quite obvious that they are spliced, it still took the community many years to actually find out, and I don't think all of his runs were spliced either, but the fact remains that several were.

Given what has been stated and the cursor moving agree with the posts here. Should be removed and all scores removed as well.

I'm not an expert, i believe the experts, but i'm not one so i cant vote, I just want to remind people on some general principles of dealing with cheaters.

IF everything said is true, then he really does need to be banned, especially since he can read all this. If he's allowed to stay, all this thread does is tell him where he went wrong and how to get away with it next time.
