Should just throw out all the scores from
1997-08-30 as all but one continued.

43 continues for just a mediocre score? Gotta be more to this story.
Who would have been entering scores in 1997?

I agree they should all be thrown out. The last place score used 100 continues for all we know.

What blows my mind was that Leo Daniels was still playing video games in the late 90's. I'd like to see video or photographic evidence of that!

I'm willing to bed Leo Daniels doesn't give a **** about this. He lives in his own universe in which he rules. Us mere mortals are not in his league.

I'm not sure this was a score ENTRY issue...I can see transposed numbers, one less digit, but two back-to-back digit issues, both at the tail-end of the score, likely incorrect.

Before anyone completely trashes the score, one small anecdote to share.

Anecdote #1 - Pre-2001, there was a "Star Wars" arcade marathon score in the TG database of 6 BILLION...that would have taken an estimated 900-1,000 hours to pull off. Turns out it was a typo and the trailing 2-digits were "extra", so Walter reduced the score to 60 million.

So, the point...outrageous data entry typos have happened.

Anecdote #2 - Post-2006 there was an entry in the 2nd TG Book of Records attributing a world record on arcade "Strikers 1945 III" to none other than...myself...and further, set at Funspot. The problems here...(A) I never played the title, ever, and (B) Funspot does not even have the title.

The point here...this was a score not even accomplished by the gamer it was linked to, and that's besides the arcade not even having the title.

There is no way to be 100% sure on this one...a bogus score entry, a really bad data entry typo, or something else.

In any event, the score is impossible as far as the program goes. I'm voting "Yes" to the dispute fully knowing that the "Why" element may never be definitively uncovered.

well this is very interesting. It means they got the score wrong, as well as the verification method. also, a lot of scores on that track seem wrong. i can understand in robotrons case the 00 ending turning it 80 since zero with bad handwriting might look like an 8. the number here though make no sense as an honest typographical mistake, so many typos, so many mistakes on the scoreboard, how was that even possible? Can anyone from that time period explain how so many crazy typos could happen so regularly?
