TGI Records denied by Guiness World Records

    Good evening
I submitted several of my TGI Records to Guiness.

Rather the time frame stated, some took months.

Every TGI Record was denied !!!

Has anyone else ran into this?

Do you remember what games it was for which you wanted the certificate? It could make a difference.

If a guiness record is important to you, one guarateed way to get one is in the guiness platform. Also, I know at least one user did get certificates, I would tag him but I honestly forgot who it was, I know it was someone who updates their wall regulalry so hopefully they'll see this and be able to share their experience. Also, I know non-premium tracks, as part of the tg deal will be excluded from the book, I dont know if that also means they'll be excluded from getting certificates but I guess its a possibility. Do you remember if your tracks were premium or not?

    premium vs non premium
wow - how does one decide that and place a value

i wasn’t looking for them in the book.
The records were the records I hold at TG.

Did they offer a reason for the denial or did they just deny without explanation?

to answer the premium question, the plot thickens as apparently premium will soon be (or recently already was) done away with. However, the answer to what premium is may still be relevant to answering your questions as premium was a thing when you submitted.

All tg founded tracks are premium -- that includes everything from earlier iterations of tg as well as some new things. User created tracks by default are not premium. However, user's can request admins review their track and bump them up to premium status. Also, if any track gets at least 10 submissions its automatically premium, the logic being no matter how silly the track may seem to some, if 10 people play on it who is anyone else to say its not a real track.

A track is considered premium if it already existed before the re-launch or if it is created since and has been petitioned by the creator (and TG admin agrees). Also, a non-premium track can be promoted to premium if there is at least 10 scores tracked against it.

I created several tracks this summer on ancient "novelty" games. Since I have the only score recorded, they do not qualify as premium. I created them because it was fun, the machines are fun, and I am hoping that people who visit the Half-Moon arcade (near funspot) will play these machines and submit their own scores.

Twin Galaxies is making playing games fun again.

    :)

    Interesting observation... :D

The comments contained in this thread cover the topic of premium tracks well, though a few additional points to note are:

"Premium" tracks as defined by TG were the only tracks that TG would present to GB as possible tracks to publish. GB of course was always able to pick and choose what they wished to recognize.

There was no explicit agreement that TG defined premium tracks were tracks that were automatically considered something GB recognizes or tracks.

For those that may have missed the last GB printing, scores at TG were essentially not noted at all in comparison to years past, but speedrun.com scores received a well deserved great deal of attention.

Currently TG indicates that "premium" tracks will become obsolete though current score listings are still defined on the TG site as "World Records" (Premium tracks) or "Other Records" (the total of all non "Premium" high scores and second place or lower scores). TG indicates that this is a work in progress.

In my opinion, if one is interested in GB, the best approach would be to generate press coverage (social media, print) on your own to generate interest. The more general interest that can be created on an event or a score, the more chance GB will cover it. GB's end goal is to sell books. A well documented score may or may not be good, but a well promoted story is more likely to garner attention.

They have scrapped the premium and non premium idea in favor of number of records.

Update was posted when the new scoreboard went live

I’m not sure I understand the need for this system.

It is effectively telling people one “ world record” is more important than another.

I cant believe that’s really cool.
