Submission MessageI haven't had much time for gaming the past few months, but I started to play MH Return to Vax again off and on over the holidays. After I dusted off the cobwebs, I ended up cracking 2 million points for the first time today :)

Final Score 2,061,434 points @ the start of level 38 (warped from 1 to 22 to start).

    Enjoy!

Some bad news to report here - the .inp doesn't play back to the submitted score, it plays back to 1,601,654:

David, my guess is that you didn't disable the NVRAM before recording, which is a requirement for MAME submissions. Please the directory where you have WolfMAME installed, and if you see a folder named nvram, and within it a folder named mhavocrv, this will confirm that NVRAM was not disabled. If you don't know how to disable it, send me a message and I will walk you through it (it's very easy).

Unless you accidentally submitted the wrong .inp, I'm afraid I have to vote no...please let us know.

    Hmm...that's odd.

The video I recorded for YouTube and submitted to TG was created by playing back the INP all the way to the end that showed no problems. I even take the zipped archive and test that specific file again b4 submitting to make sure (WolfMAME .152).

Here is the exact syntax used to play it back which was recorded with OBS like all my other submission in the past (this is the contents of the batch file I click on at the start of the video playback) :

    mame mhavocrv -playback majorhavocreturntovaxJRK2061434.inp -mouse -nvram_directory NUL -hlsl_enable -vector_bloom_scale .310

I use the same syntax but with -record to create the INP in the first place which I also watched once all the way through b4 recording on both my Win7 laptop and the Win10 one I am on right now. I always disable NVRAM but that is usually the problem when you see what you have on your end. Doesn't seem to be the case this time.

I even just downloaded the INP from TG and did a quick full speed test using the same batch file syntax (using F10+Skip 10/10) and it played back to the end correctly on both my machines at home.

Is anyone else having the same issues?

Thanks for the compliment but I have never been to Banning.

Maybe you saw me at CAX last year?

If NVRAM was enabled and was still present in your MAME directory, everything would work fine for you during playback, and you wouldn't be able to tell there was an issue.

The syntax of your command line seems fine, but let's check the actual result - in your MAME install directory, is the nvram folder present? If so, is there a folder within it named mhavocrv? If so, then NVRAM wasn't disabled, and there is most likely an NVRAM file within that folder, which is why it won't play back correctly for me...please check and confirm.

Btw, instead of having to disable the NVRAM every time you record, if you modify the MAME config file, you can permanently turn it off, that way when you record, all you have to type is "record mhavocrv inpname" and you're good to go...if you don't know how to do this, let me know and I can help.

Yes, if someone else could please try the playback as well, that would help a lot...we don't need a full MAME analysis, just please play back the .inp with 0.152 and let us know the result.
