Can we submit Sega master system games via a Sega genesis with an everdrive?

since the question to each individual is yes, the combination has to be fine too, but i hear ya, its awkward

the power base adapter is pretty much just a pass through, and not only accepted, but in my opinion wise to accept and not all frowned upon. as a side note, tg historically excepted all official adapters, even stupid things like super gameboy that do change things, simply because they were official, you can be damn sure i frown on that, but its also accepted

    everydrive is also accepted

so yes everdrive on powerbase adapter is fine.

Well this would be bypassing the power base adapter technically. Its a flash cart so I can run Genesis / SMS / 32x from the same cart. But I guess that makes sense, because the power base adapter just allowed the carts to fit.

ah, i thought you had the sega everdrive you were putting into the powerbase adapter into the genesis.

regardless yeah, still ok, but it might not be a bad idea on your submission to lay out to the explanation to put people at ease

I am the #1 ranked SMS player.

I do not have an SMS.

I use the setup you describe.

    I am guessing it's ok.

    :)

(Yes, unquestionably, you can use an everdrive to bypass the Genesis and use the full Master System hardware that is inside, unused.)

Didn't know the Super Gameboy was "uncool" for subs, I was actually looking into getting one, thanks for the heads up, I've been meaning to ask.

while we're taling hardware, should you pick up the original sega, be very careful, the original nintendo plug fits the connection, but its reverse polarity and fries your sega.

the system is rare enough as is (cause nintendo is awesome amirite?), but them being broken so easily doesnt help matters.

i strongly encourage you to get one but be careful

another fun story, you're about my age group. everyone i knew back then seemed to believe the rumor the if you removed the plastic on the bottom of the nes, that expansion port could play sega games. so few of us had sega games though we just sort of believed and spread the rumor, didn help some people lied and claimed they did it to further encourage the rumor. and especially ridiculous rumor since the sizes dont even match up but whatever. that rumor reach your neck of the woods roger?

its allowed, and i cant speak for others, but i very much look down on it and i know others have expressed negative feeling as well.

look its too late, we cant fix it, theres alreadyapples to oranges submissions out there. as a matter or pride though, i would think you'd want to play on the real thing and not emulation. also, lets face it, who cares if last places cheated (or techincally followed stupid rules with unfair advantages), i mean yes i care, but you know what i mean, first place is extra important to be fair.

they did at least realize the super gameboy shouldnt be allowed for speed runs, but they had the flawed logic its fine for point runs since if anything running faster makes it harder. thats not enitrely true though. in the extreme case think marathons, the game running faster might add some difficutly, but the fact its faster means you dont have to play for as long and that can make it easier in ways too. certainly for long marathons its a huge advantage. but arguable, with attention spans and other things, even 30 minute runs you could argue it matters

besides, even if you insist it makes the game harder and fail to see how it can make the easier, at a bare minimum its different

the atari colecovision adapter was also allowed, but i dont know enough about that to know how bad a decision it was. i just know the snes/super gameboy just really showed the refs were complete noobs ruling on things they had no clue about. what a great time to be a cheater when you that sort of administration running the show!

Ha, never heard that about the NES bottom cover, interesting rumor!

I've played enough a/b things on systems now to know, even a moderately skilled gamer can say "there is a difference", so if it was suspect that the GBPlayer produced faster times/higher scores, is likely true.

I guess I should share that I'm working on some stuff using the super game boy and also the gba player lol :)

Also, I remember a rumor like that but different. I heard when I was a young kid that the port on the bottom of the NES could be used to play gameboy games, but you needed a connector which was only available to Japan... or something like that lol

    Well...

I literally just clicked "buy" on a Gameboy player, tatty box, but only 20$(I'm a collector now, had to have the box...).

I love you Snow, you know I do, but it's hard not to follow suit when the most practical solution is allowed, the SNES is, I guess, "My" system somedamned how, scratching my head, but someone catching me for the top spot is kinda hard to imagine, at least while I am active, lol, so I'd be "comfortable" with the setup/controllers.

Since this happened(dammit, I am too busy for this, F-Zero, PAL SNES/Megadrive games coming in the mail, 2600 tournament coming up, picking on the "leavers"-oh, yeah-Im'ma try to drag some folks back by beating their scores, something I just gotta do, because they need to be here, won't name names!), I'll probably pick up a real GB and GBC, and continue my "research" on the differences between different formats of the same system.

Now to con the Wife into the GBC flashcart...

    :)

its my understanding the one for the gamecube uses actual gameboy hardware and so is alot more fair in comparison

again, all allowed. if the question is just "is it allowed" i'd say yes, but i gotta share my opinion too :)

You do know the player requires a special disc to use right ? Just making sure cuz at 20 it sounds like it doesn't have that. This disc goes for about 100 bucks alone now

Also I just picked up the ez flash for gba. About 40 on eBay. Apparently it's even better than the everdrive for gba currently

My bad-Super Game Boy, SNES, not Gameboy player. I actually gave a GB player away several years ago, because it didn't have the disc.

I lucked out. Bought a console only cube from the flea market a few years back for 5 bucks. Had the GBA player disc in it :)
