INP analysts' resources: XD executable file

The developers of XD no longer want anything to do with Windows, and who can blame them? Unfortunately, Wolf MAME is an exclusively Windows programme, so anyone wishing to use XD for INP analysis has to get 'xd.exe' from archived editions of the XD webpage. The most recent of these is dated 23 Aug 2017. In the event that the download link stops working, let me know, and I will share the files, here or via torrent.

More INP analysts' resources here.

Please explain why it is an issue?

    XD is used for:

"a utility which dumps files in hexadecimal,
decimal, or octal, with file addresses shown in any of
those formats. xd can read files in any of the formats it writes, recreating binary files, including modifications made by editing the dump with any text editor."

Is there no alternative doing a he a dump?

In Barthax batch file there is an alternative listed as:

REM Rich Paso's HEXDump copied to MAMELOCATION
    REM SET HEXDUMP=hexdump.exe

So if he dump provide the same level of output analysis I do not see the withdrawal of XD as a problem at all.

    Just use an alternative...

Or can someone create an open source version which will never not be available?... Happy coding...

XD source code is in the public domain already...

    From the developer webpage:

    cc(1), od(1), iso_8859_1(7)

[download] Download xd-1.4.tar.gz (Gzipped TAR archive)

The release archive contains source code, a Makefile for building the program, and documentation in manual page and HTML form.
