EverDrive N8 - Is It Always This ‘Blinky’?

I haven't used my NES EverDrive much but there's one thing I noticed - the items on the game screen (not just sprites but some foreground stuff too) are blinky / flashy. Not too bad but definitely noticeable.

Is this normal?

Mine garbles up sometimes, not like you describe, but words/symbols instead of a menu screen.

For some reason, removing and reinserting the SD card seems to help(me)more often than trying to clean the NES or Everdrive.

This is during gameplay. The menu does sometimes garble but it's easy to get past that. Once you load a game and start playing THAT'S what I'm talking about. I played SMB on original cart then on the N8 and it is noticeably “blinkier” on the N8.

I'll try to A/B with some of my carts soon and see if I notice a difference-interesting.

I have never had any issues with mine. I do have a new pin adapter for the NES. And I have no lock out chip so I don't have to push the cartridge for good connections either which what caused many game chips to bend causing bad connections in the long run...also causing almost every human on the planet to start blowing in there cartridges. It could also be the ROM. I've got 4 Everdrive carts and they all work fantastic. I'm sure if you posted something on the Everdrive forum somebody could help you out there as well.

I'll post a video whenever I get to it. Just to make sure it's not in my head.

Have you tried an OS update? They're up to an unofficial OS 20 now.

Maybe it's my console. I have played my original NES for all my submissions and never had any issues with using original carts. My buddy got me a new toaster for Christmas a couple years back because my original had a sound issue - it wasn't quite processing the sound correctly. Lemme try my N8 on my original console. I want the “new” one to work bc the sound is full and correct but if it means that it's blinky it's not worth it.

    Thanks everyone for the feedback.
