It was inevitable...And just not fair!

News from my alma-mater. Why was THIS not available, when I attended school back in the 90's?

(OH right, too busy getting a worthless degree in Economics)

Back in the 90's the computers at colleges were from the 80's. The e-sports teams were playing text adventures while speed running twinkies and Jolt(r) Cola

Ya, I was there before anything Windows. We had DOS and VAX. Email was a new thing and very popular.

NES and Genesis were the popular dorm room consoles.

Oh dear. Writing COBOL on a VAX system, I thought I'd buried those memories! :P

I have pleasant memories of the day I unplugged our VAX for good.

When I discovered I could dial in to the school's computer system and write cobol from home, I thought I was finally living in the future. No need to walk all the way across the road and interact with live humans. Of course my roommate's neurotic girlfriend would phone every 20 minutes looking for him until I figured out the dialing code to disable call waiting. That made her panic thinking he was on the phone with some other girl. Good time.

Call waiting was a tool of the devil!
