In light of some of the conversation and concerns that have been going on in regard to historical scores vs TGSAP scores, I have asked our engineering team look into creating a "TGSAP ONLY" mode for Twin Galaxies that will be set as default.

If set, this will remove all non-TGSAP scores from all displays and site calculations.

It will only display TGSAP scores and would rank list everything throughout the site only according to TGSAP scores.

If TGSAP ONLY mode is created, if a member wanted to include non-TGSAP scores into the display/lists/calculations they would then be able to set their account to ALL SCORES mode. (This is the mode the site currently is in).

I will keep you posted on this matter. That is all. Thank you.

I can't imagine Mario Kart 64 without a leaderboard but I would love seeing new competition on leaderboards folks wouldn't normally submit to because of the daunting scores. With everything having videos, camaraderie and discussions can further raise the skills of all those participating! Who knows, maybe this will lead to even more amazing scores!

So do you get ESI only based on the TGSAP scores?

You would be able to look at ESI calculated either as TGSAP ONLY or ALL SCORES depending on which mode you are choosing to view through.

Okay, so if I go to someones profile it shows the ESI that person has under the mode I'm using. Got it : )

As an interesting note, will the disputes to older scores reduce after introducing this mode. People don't have as much intrest in them anymore, and will some submitters resubmit their old scores under the TGSAP system.

i assume the "default" mode applies to viewing tg when not logged into an account? Also, how will this affect "world record" in terms of tg certificates or guiness recognition? which mode will guiness and certs use?

gives me a pretty good reason to work on some of those pre-TGSAP scores I've been meaning to rerecord...

Guys, I popped into my time machine, went up 30 years, and I have some really, really bad news for you...

Now that all pictures and video are directly uploaded to YouTube automatically, to be monitored for safety(YouTube becomes a government institution, BTW), it was determined that our primitive videos are not enough evidence to properly stand up as "proof", and all of our scores are gone...

:(

I just keep thinking about that dude sitting on his living room floor in 1985, day after day, working hard to finally get a score, do something "important", that has now stood 30+ years, and...

Gone?

It is what it is, whatever TG does is what I'll flow with obviously, but even the option to filter seems unfair to people who worked so hard in the past for scores.

roger, in 30 years, guess what, we still wont be self verifying refs

the issue isnt old technology, the issue is referees were also players. its not a coincidence all the bans and fake scores have come from referees. the issue isnt that tg lacked modern tech, its that tg purposely hid the evidence they did have keeping it secret and that they allowed referees to see their competitions secrets but didnt let the comeptition see their secrets, let the refs judge their competetiros and rule on themsevles. that has nothing to do with 30 year old techonlogy. even 30 years ago people knew not to let refs be players in any other competition on earth.

if the scores were all referee verified, with no remaining proof, but the referees werent allowed to compete we wouldnt have the issues we have here. its not as simple as not believing any of history before camera were invented. its a matter of not trusting corrupt referees who had huge conflicts of interest

i do of course agree there are downsides. programming change this system wide will no doubt have bugs. also sucks for the inocent players. it's really a less of two evils situation and i'm super excited about the change but i agree it sucsk for the honest players. fortunatley, many of them should be able to resubmit. i guess view any hardship on them as just a side effect of the corrupt refs nasty actions

I assure you, over 90% of the existing pre-TGSAP scores you see today are legit and "real ".

With TGSAP's early years, a few dozen scores fell through the cracks, that should NOT of been accepted, as most of them are pending disputes anyways.

I do like this gamers choice , personal preference decision to filter though... As a hybrid gamer (over 50% my scores are pre-TGSAP) , I will be filtering myself as both ALWAYS, Because a TG WR to me, is a TG WR from the beginning of TG's time, no matter what status quo the verification process was.

I am sure those gamers who are/were part of both verification standards, would agree with me!

i believe you. some refs were honorable, and pretty much all non refs if anyting had the deck stacked against them so their records have to be legit.
but 90% of all scores isnt the same as 90% of first place scores.

With the removal (ban of 3 key gamers of the past) I assure you, over 90% is better than the 75% it once was!

If you are looking for a PERFECT 100% scoreboard, call 1-800-CORRUPT...extension "REF" and let them have it!

@Jace Hall ... As recent history has taught us here... PLEASE, NO BUGS!!!! Get it ALL right the first time....TEST, TEST, and test some more, before you officially launch this update. Dont pass down the buck, oversee the project yourself!!!

There's certainly not a "right" or "wrong" here, I've always maintained that TG is entitled to do things however they wish, it IS their site, after all.

I was definitely centered on the honest gamers, but I agree it is a shame that there were people in power positions that worked the system and their power to their benefit.

Pretty sure a like or two on my previous comment wasn't even total agreeance, just acknowledgement of "good point", which I appreciate.

Again, this won't much affect what I do, or my relationships here, was just throwing that out there-I went thru all that trouble to put the time machine together, just seemed silly not to post my findings.

:P
