Which arcade game do you think had the best continue screen?

After getting the original arcade Ninja Gaiden on my Switch, I was treated to that infamous continue screen again. It made me look up other continue screens that really attempt to motivate you to try again, like Street Fighter II, Cadillacs & Dinosaurs, The Punisher, Mortal Kombat 4, Final Fight series, etc.

Which do you think had the best continue screen? For me, I definitely think Ninja Gaiden's is the best at motivating you to fish out a few more quarters and save your ninja from a rather gruesome fate. Hell, I remember the first time I saw that, I was about nine years old, and even though you didn't actually see the final result, you saw the screen go red and the implication was there. It really left a mark on me. Later when I told my dad about it, he said, "You could've continued."

What about you? Let me hear your opinions!

I liked the one from Final Fight. The Ninja Gaiden one is pretty cool too. Im kinda racking my brain right now. Those are the only two that come to mind as of this moment. Maybe some others will help jog my memory.

I'm actually at a loss for words here...I think this is the first time I have ever read this question posed on a gaming forum !! Good question indeed, and I am drawing a complete blank as to a memorable continue screen.

Looking forward to the responses from those who know best :)

seconding final fight. rather than go with bribing you "put in another quarter for a great time" they extort you "put in the quarter or his death is on your conscience"

Smash TV didn't have a continue screen but it was pretty exciting and motivating when you put in another quarter and it says BINGO! and you just go right back to blasting away.

Continue screen? What’s that? I’ve never seen one before. ;D
