Win up to $500 - Looney Tunes: Back in Action -Traffic Attack (NTSC)

Score 350 points or higher to WIN up to $500 in an Amazon eGift card! Also EARN a rare TG Achievement point! (GameCube, PlayStation 2, and EMU submissions accepted)

TG ACHIEVEMENT

Bounty Rules

THE OBJECTIVE:

Play the "Traffic Attack" standalone mini-game that is part of the NTSC version of Looney Tunes: Back in Action and achieve a score of 350 points or higher.

THE RULES:

The game rules governing the submission performance validation are the same rules that govern the official TG World Record leaderboard tracks for both the GameCube and Playstation 2 platforms, which are:

--Default settings
--Three (3) misses are allowed as per game default

This bounty challenge accepts GameCube, Playstation 2, as well as EMU submissions for those platforms.

If an emulator is used, the submission description must contain information regarding general details specifying what emulator app was used as well as a simple description of the hardware platform that the emulator was run on (PC, Mac, Rasberry Pi, etc.) and what system OS was used (Windows, Linux, MacOs, etc.)

Showing system / software boot up is recommended but is NOT required.

The Twin Galaxies General Gameplay Global Rules And Guidelines For All Submissions shall apply, however the above listed bounty and track rules are considered the overriding rule set where/if there is any direct overlap or conflict.

REWARDS:

Successful bounty claimants will receive -

--One (1) TG Achievement Point

--One (1) $100 Amazon eGift Card

BONUS MULTIPLIER - If a bounty claimant's successfully submitted and adjudicated performance is performed on original hardware (not EMU) and shows a reasonably complete boot up procedure in the accepted tradition of Twin Galaxies General Gameplay Global Rules and Guidelines for All Submissions, then the $100 Amazon eGift Card shall be increased to $200 total.

EXTRA BONUS MULTIPLIER -  If a bounty claimant's successfully submitted and adjudicated performance is performed on original hardware (not EMU) and shows  a reasonably complete boot up procedure in the accepted tradition of Twin Galaxies General Gameplay Global Rules and Guidelines for All Submissions, AND the score performance is greater than 361 POINTS -  then the $100 Amazon eGift Card shall be increased to $300 total.

EXTRA EXTRA BONUS MULTIPLIER -  If a bounty claimant's successfully submitted and adjudicated performance is performed on original hardware (not EMU) and shows  a reasonably complete boot up procedure in the accepted tradition of Twin Galaxies General Gameplay Global Rules and Guidelines for All Submissions, AND the score performance is greater than 375 POINTS -  then the $100 Amazon eGift Card shall be increased to $500 total.

Additional Information:

This Bounty Challenge leaderboard only contains 3 award slots, once all three slots have been claimed the bounty challenge will end. Until all three slots have been claimed, the bounty will remain continuously open until Twin Galaxies decides to close it.

All submission performances for this bounty challenge must be submitted directly to this bounty using the Submit Claim button.

Note: "Traffic Attack" is also available during the "main" game, where you play to set scores between 220 and 300 - This is NOT the standalone mini-game that this bounty is referencing. Please make sure you choose the right settings for your bounty submission!

Only one score performance of an individual claimant can occupy the leaderboard at any time, therefore if the same claimant submits a better performance than their previous submission it will eventually replace their lower scoring performance on the leaderboard.

I have a couple of questions on how the rewards work: Since up to 3 people can claim this bounty, are they all eligible to win the full $500 if they all submit high enough scores?  What if people submit lower scores first and then improve them later (ex: 350, 362, 376)?

I never thought I'd find an excuse to play this game again, but here it is.  I've been at it for a few nights this week and have made some good progress.  Just like old times!

That score is a beast! I gave my first try today and only got 317. I was in no hurry to try since I figured nobody was snatching this one right away.  Good to see you around!

rdrunner and flyhec competition? This should be interesting.

Jace Hall -

Yes. All bounty claim slots are eligible for max prize.

Regarding your second question about improving scores and resubmitting - after careful consideration the policy is going to be that if you submit a valid claim that successfully occupies a slot, then that will be considered your claim and you will receive the reward on that basis. There will not be an allowance to "improve" your score with further submissions.

So it is important to choose your bounty claim submission wisely, because that will be the only one you get if your submission is valid.

Since we are still in the testing phase, and it was indicated that you would be able to submit further to this particular bounty to improve your score if you want, we will make an allowance if you desire, however, after this it will no longer be allowed.

Our preference is that you allow us to award you your bounty reward now, on the basis of your current successful claim, so that we can be consistent right from the start on this policy. Please let us know if you are ok with that. Otherwise we will stick to our word about letting you improve on this one in this specific case.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

BTW, Hope all is well Tom! Hope life's been treating you well.

rdrunner -

Thanks, you as well!

Got 3 little boys running around.  The first is 7 years old, doing well in school and can also play a little Mario.  The second is 5 and just learned to ride a bike without training wheels.  Finally, the youngest is 22 months and just had his first success at potty training.

Still gaming as time permits, but don't expect any major comeback here.  I'm only doing this game because the runs are just a couple minutes per attempt! :)

andrewg -

I understand haha, I have an 18 month old now myself. It's hard to find the time for any serious project.

Jace Hall -

@rdrunner TG would like to pay out your bounty. TG has not paid it yet because you indicated you wanted to submit something higher and TG had not settled in on its policies at that time, so you were given that latitude.

TG has now settled in on the policy that a successful claim should be paid upon that success (or as rules / timing specifies) and not delayed.

TG has been making an exception for you with this bounty as it appreciates your early participation in the system which has helped TG find bugs and set functional policy - however TG would like to close the loop on this.

Are you ok with TG paying it out now? Please advise.

rdrunner -

@Jace Hall I will take the $200 payout.

Sorry for the delayed response.  I appreciated the opportunity to participate in this bounty and also for the chance to improve my score.  While I am disappointed that I haven't been able to reach the next tier, I understand the need to keep this from dragging on for too long, especially through the holidays, where further score attempts will likely be limited.

Thanks,

Tom

I tried this a bit and it's impossible. Tom Votava is clearly too good. :D

I'm curious whether there's some trick or pattern to this or whether it's just a matter of experience, but man is this a tough challenge! It's addicting. I haven't put a ton of time into this yet, but so far its kicking my butt. Gonna just wait and see what happens after I spend some more time with it.

andrewg -

Kind of confused. Why are there 3 submission slots? I'm not sure I'm understanding how this works.

Are there 3 winners if 3 people score 350+?

I'm kind of just doing this now to see if I can hit 350 for kicks, but I don't know if I still have a shot for the bounty or if Tom's already the winner.

Snowflake -

there are bonus multipliers. dont know if that means if someone makes a claim but only reach a certain level of multiplier maybe others can still submit for those bonuses?

rdrunner -

I believe that this bounty is still open for two other people to submit as high a score as possible.  In theory, everyone is eligible for the full $500 prize if they submit high enough scores.

The only trick is that the bounty closes when all the slots are filled, so there is a risk involved with holding back a lower score while trying for a higher one.  This is why I chose to submit my 351 score when I got it.  I wanted to make sure that I didn't miss out.

Sure, I can probably beat my record and claim the next level prize, but after trying for a few weeks, I can say that it's a bit of a reach to say that I could have done so before others get to 350.

For the curious, I put about 5-6 hours of game time into this challenge and my high scores looked something like:
357 (once)

353 (twice)

352 (twice)

351 (7 times)

350 (3 times)

Anyway, just wanted to help clarify in case anyone had stopped trying for this because of me.  Have at it! :)

rdrunner -

Just wanted to confirm that I have received my payout for this bounty.  Thanks!!!

starcrytas -

I got the 355 on Emulator.

I want to go on record and say I will NOT try for the extra multipliers.
