I never quite understood why the ESI calculation is so complex in the first place. I kind of always felt just give 1 ESI for each person you are above. This idea seemed to be fairly popular and it's very easy to understand of course.I get the idea of factoring in percent as to "how good"

They both have pros and cons:Twin Galaxies is more skeptical which I think is a good thing. If you're skeptical on SRC it comes across as you attacking another player. I guess the same can be said on TG but it's more normal to be asked for more proof or to have certain requirements.SRC can be

I'm wondering if there's a way to view obsolete scores on leaderboards and whether that's something that exists or not.Was curious specficially about some times I did for the full game speedrun of Super Mario Bros a very long time ago. I doubt the times still exist given that I updated them later. B

Niftski is an absolute monster at SMB/Lost Levels physics. I'd love to get to that level some day, but to be honest I don't know if I'm that talented. It's cool to see people who are just THAT good at games that it makes me question how good I am at games.
There's more to gaming
Is it correct that all categories for a game are listed in order by the highest amount of competitors to the lowest? Are all the empty tracks listed at the end now? I think so, but can't tell.

Yea, this is an incredible achievement!!! This has all frame rules which means only the last stage (8-4) is improvable by frames, 22 to be exact.
It was always my goal to reach that point (all frame rules) with Super Mario Bros and I'd still like to some day whether or not it's world record.
Always felt that empty categories should be hidden by default with an option to [show empty categories]

I always argue that it matters a lot more WHO you are competing against and not the number of players though too. And despite my annoyance with Rodrigo and what he ended up doing, I'm pretty certain he is an extremely talented gamer. Just like I think BM and Todd are talented as well, but that doesn't

I mean I will say too that the number of people on a leaderboard absolutely doesn't mean that the scores are necessarily good. Again for example a tournament. There's the possibility nobody was familiar with a title or whatever despite many players participating.
I've said this and tried

The example I'll give is what is probably the most valuable leaderboard in terms of ESI: Mario Kart 64I'm going off of memory so this could be wrong, but I think if you got #1 on all 110 categories then you'd get 3300 ESI from it. The numbers could be off a little bit, but I just thought

I say front and center because all this stuff is listed right there under everyone's profile and so everyone is aware of these things.I knew redelf would be brought up, but in relation to you... you MUST have a ton of inaugurals and or play on games and categories that most others don't. Whereas
One clarification here. I say the old "most world records" wasn't that notable when the large majority were inaugurals. That's what bothered me. It's not some huge achievement to have the most inaugural world records and that's kind of similar to what some were discussing

Alright so let's try this again. I haven't been trying to get into confrontations with people. A lot of my gripes are from the management of old Twin Galaxies and my disdain for how things were done for a large period of time (and some of that has carried into modern TG just by history). Things are

And again again again
We should probably leave things as is, but add more rather than alter it. ESI can remain THE 1st board and it's A metric. But I'd love to see like a "game skill index" that I think could be a better picture of what I think should be the incentive. At least,

It wasn't my intention to dismiss the metrics, but just that I care about the scores themselves a lot more than the metrics themselves. However, metrics are fun for competition as well. I love competing in general and I like competing on the metrics myself but not at the cost of the initial goal

Ultimately people can compete on what they want to compete on. If getting the most world records on TG is important to you then that's fine. I'm just saying I don't personally care and that it's only one metric of many.
I think it's all fine discussion. What counts as a world
