Home and recovering with Star Wars and NES

***This thread contains spoilers***

I got home from the hospital last night. This has been a crazy week. Heart Attacks are just simply no fun at all.

I’m on bed rest with limited activity until 11/30 when I have to go back into the hospital for another cardiac procedure. My plan is to spend that time with my family playing NES, watching Star Wars, and just being grateful to be alive.

Thanks for all of the support. Please use my experience as an excuse to take better care of your hearts.

Rob, I'll give you a piece of advice:

I won't give it away, but one character will tell another character that he's actually his father. Don't take the tape out of the VCR and bust the tape. It will all make sense after you watch the next 5 movies.

:) Keep your spirits up !!

You should have seen my wife roll her eyes when I told the cardiologist that I needed to be healthy for the Episode VIII release!

Rob I have a reco for you:

I just watched Rogue One on Netflix yesterday. Incredible !!

I never knew that it’s the story directly leading into the original 1977 Star Wars movie.

    No one told me.

Im so confused with all the sets of sequels and prequels... but this is a must-see.

    It blew me away!!

I hope you haven’t seen it yet. It’s AWESOME.

Thanks Al. Rogue One has become an instant classic for me. I absolutely loved it.

The combination of Rogue One into Episode IV: A New Hope is such a home run.

Im a Star Wars junkie. A lifelong fanboy. Here is a pic of my son on Opening Night last year.

The movie that made Darth Vader scary again. But my favourite part was seeing a couple of familiar Rebel pilots in the space battle.

    Love It!!!! Amazing pic!!

    same here bro....

The movie became an instant classic for me as well.

When Vader was chasing the pawns in the hallways at the end of the movie, I knew the diskette would lead directly into Leiah’s hands.... and I got goosebumps when it actually did. And Leiah says “It’s Hope”....

My my wife yelled out “you saw this before”... I said No I didn’t... this leads right into the start of the first movie...

I’m ordering it on Blueray ... even thought it’s free on Netflix, I need it to add to my 6-Blueray DVD set.

Plus... the world gets an explanation as to why the planet-sized Death Star blew up from one “laser shot” that’s normally used to kill Womprats and Nerfhurders.

That new girl’s father booby-trapped the power converter in the core and gave the death star a weakness.

My my life has changed after seeing the movie.

Even “Frog-face” is back. The admiral with the Frog face that gives orders to the x-wing pilots.

So much retro in the movie. It was familiar to me even though I was seeing it for the first time.

I watched it Three times in a row!!!

Definitely, seeing Darth Vader again ... his voice a little “low volume”... but I’ll take it... amazing scenes with him in it.

And the familiar rebel ships ... I didn’t recognize the pilots, but the space fighting brought back memories. And Admiral Frog Face leading them.

WOW..., honestly, out of the 7 new movies, this one is by FAR my favourite sequel/prequel.

You didn't spot Red Leader and Gold Leader from the original movie?

    My favourite new character:

    K-2S0. That Robot was incredible.

    He’s like C3PO with b$lls.

Who didn’t shed a tear when he died defending the Empire’s Internet station?

I usually leave the theatre disappointed.... and I’m a harsh critic. This one Blew me away.

So not to ruin the new and upcoming Episode VIII, but I strongly believe it's called "The Last Jedi" because Rey turns to the dark side and Luke is the only one left. And in Episode IX, we finally get to see an actual force battle between the strongest force user of all time, Luke, take on 3 Sith Lords at the same time, after he has literally wiped out an entire platoon of storm troopers, AT-STs and a few Tie Fighters along the way. With only his force powers....because Luke is that powerful. I'm talking multiple force pushes at the same time, force barriers, even the awesome bullet absorption power that few Jedi possess...Vader and Han Solo's blaster anyone? No, it's not because of his metal hand either, it's an actual power. Why do you think every single shot Han took ended up hitting his hand? Because Vader made it happen. Much like Kylo Ren stopped that Rifle Blaster shot in Episode VII. And since their will be a Death Star 3, because they have a habit of repeating themselves, after Luke eliminates the 3 Sith Lords (or Knights of Ren) he will sacrifice himself to finally save the entire galaxy by pulling the Death Star 3...yes, pulling the Death Star....to the planets surface he is on. Officially, ending the Jedi, Sith, and Empire all at once. Thus completing the cycle Anakin Skywalker started as being the one who would end it all, by having his offspring finish it. Totally ****ing awesome

I watched the original Star Wars again ... my memory is starting to go a bit. The Frog-head admiral and Mon Mothma were in Return of the Jedi not Star Wars.

Also, the flow of getting the Death-star plans in Rogue One is not exactly seamless going into Star Wars ... the viewers are required to 'suspend belief' in order to make concessions for some dialogue that doesn't exactly flow in the 1977 script.

Leiah says "I hope there's something in the plans that will show a weakness"..... But in Rogue One, the rebels dispatched hundreds of men/women to get the disc - because it will show the weakness in the Death-Star.

Also, at the end of Rogue One, Leiah is handed a modern, futuristic, square-shaped "disc" with the plans ... then 3 minutes into Star Wars, she inserts a piece of flat, round sheet-metal into R2D2 to hide the disc in the droid.

She should have been handed a round piece of sheet-metal at the end of Rogue One.

I guess all-in-all, they got it close enough.

As I watched the Original Star Wars again, I kept thinking of the Wii Star Wars game, and how they used every scene in the movies in the game. I used to play it a lot with my kids, that has to be one of the best games ever made !!
