MiSTer: Hardware replication

This is incredibly interesting to a hacker like me.

Anyone out there have a MiSTer?

I’ve had a MiSTer since 2019, in its original triple-decker-sandwich form factor. I want TG to recognize it as a platform so I can post my Snap Jack score to it.

I suppose we could add it, but at some point we are going to have to make fundamental change to how this database is oriented at the platform level when it comes to non-original.

I'm inclined to think that the best way to handle it is to essentially have only 2 categories: "original platform" and "EMU" - and then within "EMU" you are able to pick whatever hardware/software method was used to simulate the original platform.

Then on the "EMU" side, people could sort by whatever they wanted. So they could list MAME, MiSTer, JRock, etc.

    Something like that.

More to think on of course...

Perhaps I'm reading this wrong but doesn't the platform suffer the same platform perspective as the RetroN in that the "one platform" is actually many sub-platforms. With each sub-platform, potentially, carrying the same game? Donkey Kong, for example, could conceivably be on a huge list of combinations beginning with MISter->Arcade, MISter->Atari 2600, MISter->ColecoVision, etc (RetroN's sub-platform list is smaller but no less the same scoreboard conundrum).

Imagine donkey Kong with many tags.

Donkey Kong emulated. Mame 2.5. Raspberry Pi.

Donkey Kong Atari 2600 original hardware.

    Donkey Kong Jrok

    Donkey Kong Arcade Mister Emu.

Turn platforms into descriptors. Write reports to show whatever we need.

    I earned the title Datagod.

    I can help.
