More rescues

I dug out some more treasures today. IBM PC original monitor, some Tandy monitor, and a Commodore Amiga 2000HD. So frigging happy right now. Can't wait to clean them up and out them in my office.

The Amiga is a particularly nice rescue from my perspective. :D

Hi Bill. I forgot to mention in another of your posts that there is a method/technique for getting the "yellow" look out of those monitor and computer cases. In other words they look like new again. Check out youtube on how to do it if you're interested.

Thanks John. My friend has bee experimenting with various techniques with great success. Combinations of hydrogen peroxide and UV light and other chemical combinations as well. I worry about making the old plastic even more fragile. Like when you clean rare coins...you really gotta be super careful or you destroy the value.

Very nice! I was an Amiga user from 1988 until after the end of Commodore. Doom finally was the killer app that turned me to the dark side.

I hope it cleans up well and runs well.

By the way, if you have any interest in 80s tech repair videos with a lot of Commodore stuff plus others, Adrian's Digital Basement on Youtube is excellent. Canadian living in the US, even.

Awesome. I've been subscribed to Mark Fixes Stuff for a little while. I don't know how long he's been going: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwq5WetL2mkT3dmiVjwl-kA

I absolutely love these channels, thanks guys. This is what it is all about for me. Love of technology, a passion for learning. Mixing old and new technology is my main hobby.

If I ever finish my own project (Arcade Retro Clock) my target audience is people with these types of channels. A lot of them have animations running in the backgrounds, sometimes displays showing their subscriber count.

By the way, Nice to see you here Greg! It has been far too long since we hung out. I think the last time I saw you was at The Place arcade.

Thanks! I miss all of the get togethers too. Let's just say that real life has interfered, both the pandemic and personal stuff. Nothing life threatening or anything, although I did miss 3 weeks of work because of covid.

I picked up a new hobby, model trains, while I wait for my video gaming motivation to return and I have been expanding my Commodore computer collection. I picked up an Amiga 1200 and the new tech that can be used to upgrade it is pretty amazing.

Anyway, hopefully our paths will cross again someday. I enoy seeing what you've been up to on Facebook. I'd love to keep hearing about your classic computing endeavors!
