What is Arcade Culture magazine?

TG has been growing lately, and I wanted to share some of my older work with the new folks.

I took my first trip to Funspot in 2010. That was my introduction to the rebirth of arcades, and arcade culture. Richie Knucklez had a show on Justin.TV called "Arcade Culture" so as a way of having fun I started making fake magazine and called it "Arcade Culture". The first 15 or so were just me goofing around with photos I found on facebook. This made people laugh, but it also annoyed other people because I was using their photos without permission. Apparently some people thought it was a real magazine.

Regardless, I was in the wrong and I stopped using photos without explicit permission from the owner.

I also started travelling to events and taking my own photos. Here are a few examples of covers using my own pictures.

Note: the magazine covers contain inside jokes (see page 6) and satire. Not everyone likes them, and that's fine.

I met the infamous Allen Staal at the Kongoff 3 in Denver. The man is photogenic.

George Leutz, of Q*Bert fame.

Greg Bond was VERY happy when I gave him a copy of this several years later. "YOU DID THIS??? THANK YOU!!!!"

Victor just finished a tremendous 71 hour marathon on Missile Command. I wanted to honor him, but I had to borrow one of his photos from facebook before I received permission. I don't do these style anymore for good reason.

And yours truly with Miss Weir's Beach at Funspot. She was such a good sport, hanging around a bunch of us smelly nerds. :)

I actually have a bunch of these. Some are pretty funny. I have a friend of a friend who knew Joel West. I traded Joel a Make Trax PCB for a heap of memorabilia. Very cool.

That is very cool to hear, Justin! Joel and I were the very best friends for many years. We were two sides of the same coin, born on the same day 10 years apart. We had a falling out near the end but I know he is in a better place and I am at peace with him. I still consider him to be one of my best friends.
