The True God of Kong!

Robbie Lakeman, world record holder for Donkey Kong (Arcade), has retired from competitive Donkey Kong.

I don't think anyone will ever beat his score, not any time soon. It is just such a brutal game and no other players have that level of dedication, concentration, and lets face it...awesomeness.

I hope he picks up a different game to dominate. Somethign that a lot of people would enjoy playing and competing on. Maybe Frogger or Tempest.

How about Bomb Jack, where pure, unadulterated free flowing, non girder/ladder boundary encompassing skill lies?
I've given him a guide, already.

You talking about that guy who has the Super Pac World Record? ;)

I hope he moves onto other games and doesn't retire from competitive arcading all together.
Frogger or Centipede would be cool. Theyre both very hard games after you get past the first few levels.

I dont see Bombjack anywhere on this list Kernzy. The future you say? Not if this list is any indication ;P

In all seriousness though, Frogger and Centipede are classics, but there is no current community of players surrounding either of those games that I'm aware of, Frogger has layed dormant for more than a decade and Centipede much longer than that. On top of that they are both intuitive, easy to learn for newcomers but both EXTREMELY challenging games at a high level, even for someone with skills like Robbie.
The right attention brought to one of these two games I think could potentially set off a popularity explosion with them since they're so accessible (being some of the most produced of any arcade game) and easy to play, yet hard to master.
Also, the first million point Frogger is still yet to happen. That would be a nice trophy on the mantle.

Bomb Jack is cool though. You should submit some Bomb Jack arcade performances here at TG if you have knowledge of the game.

As I said, boring staples ! ;) That list is his idea of classics.
Classics are only classic in the eye of the beholder. I prefer to play games that have many different boards.

    Get out of here !
