A choice to silence spam on submissions, an idea.

@SincerelyFranny

I've had a few folks trying to get me back into submitting scores again especially with the changes. I do have a current issue before I decide to start submitting again.

As with forum post, you can ban particular members from commenting on your posts. Yes I get this means people can get on their soapbox to whine about others member but hear me out. Can it be looked into to do something like this on submissions? I don't want my name tied with someone who makes a mockery of this site and spams garbage and screenshots on my submissions and would prefer them to stay neat and clean.

I know I've publicly given my distain for this character but as long as they can not interact with me there should be no issue right? It is better than just banning them outright or completely silencing them because some members might like their spam and I have no judgement there.

I do believe this would be a simple solution for the current issue at hand with this member and this blog was made publicly so others can speak up and say if this is a good thing or not.

Thanks for hearing me out as always. I'm wishing you well, Franny!

    I understand your concern. :(

Unfortunately, this is not something that can be done for submissions. It would open the doors for players to mute potential experts who have valuable input on the gameplay. We need to always think of the possibility of cheating and people trying to hide it in any way possible. This is also why there is no deleting or editing in those threads.

Something surely has to be done then. It shouldn't be allowed and chances were constantly given.

Would there be another way to do it?

This would be a @Jace Hall question.

I can only assume who are you speaking about. They have gotten plenty of warnings and the guidelines are set in place. No more chances there.

When I try to work this out in my head I only come back to the same answer I gave you already. I'm sorry I could not be of more help.

No worries sweetheart! You're always trying your best and always doing a great job.

I am trying my best to not get fully emotionally charged either considering being called out in a previous blog because I'm a "bully". It's so far from the truth in this case and I know how adamant and harsh I can be. Bullies tend to stay on their victims and I'm actually wanting to stay well away from this character given things he's already said about me in the past which was very very creepy. Plus, given the circumstances I've gone through on this site a few months ago, I'm actually wanting to distance myself from a lot of "weird" folks this site seems to have hanging around like fungus.

Thanks again, and I hope Jace can really understand the matter at hand and how letting this particular character constantly doing whatever on this site is not helping the TG brand at all.

What you're discussing in my mind is a question of how TG choose to act as moderator. I've seen some pretty amazing dust-ups that involve a wide range of actors over the years, and not the one I think you're referencing, so in that sense I think the conclusion I've drawn is that members have a pretty wide berth in how they choose to interact. Of course there are tools that TG provides to allow members to mute others, but beyond that, I'm particularly not a fan of members being able to ban members from general forum threads as an example. If something is in a general forum, it should be fair game for all members in good standing. I think that discretion to ban members from threads should lie exclusively in the hands of admin rather than users, but your mileage may vary.

Great response! My problem was seeing how lax admin is with doling out punishment and dealing with repeat offenders. Eventually an example had to be made to show how serious of a detriment a particular memeber can be.

How obvious can the issue be anyways? If the submitter provides all the information up front then why does a member get away with spamming the same crap when information is already there. To harvest likes and thanks that's why. It's a joke and stain on this site. As someone who would prefer a submission to be clean without all the extra redundant crap, I believe an option should be there to keep it out.

I have created a WIKI page that will hopefully help @JJT_Defender with his screen capturing abilities.

Maybe implement a character limit and/or image limit to submission thread replies?

we all know what you're refering to, and your keeping it vague to be polite, so i have no choice but to take what you're saying literally, and literally no it cant be done for reasons franny said but i'll expound.

at that point people could effectively just choose their adjudicators. why not block everyone except your best buds and roommates? corruption and collusion would return full force. block people who are on to the cheating, heck even block anyone thats just plain isnt on the cheating with them.

a submission is that -- something submitting. you dont own your submission, the people you submit it to do. when you hand in an application, the company determines to trash it or respect it. when you submit here others determine to accept reject or say whatever else

now again i know i'm taking this literally but you did make a specific request. I hear you, and there should be a solution, but it cant be this one.

honestly franny is doing the best she c an with the real issue i'm gonna put my trust her to keep it under control.

theres of course another thing going on here to. its not a matter of what you want to see its a matter of what you want others to see.you can prevent yourself from seeing stuff with the ignore -- now dont get offended there are times i too want to control what others see. theres a reason anti slander laws exist, in extreme enough cases we're justified controlling what others hear.

the are ways to not censor yet still prevent crap info. ratings. likes/dislikes. if this was like a normal forum with both likes and dislikes then those who want to read everyting can, and those who want to be warned about the wasteful posts can decide if they trust others users over like/dislike stats.

i understand some people didnt want dislikes because they didnt want their posts disliked, but boo hoo, you're not supposed to like dislikes. its supposed to indicate a problem. just as you dont have the right to control what others hear/read, likewise the speaker doesnt have the right to control how others view the words and if others want to ignore

please consider restoring the dislike button. The people who complained about the dislike button only complained because they are the exact same people who make the dislike button a necessity. in fact all their reasons to oppose a dislike button are just all the more proof one is needed

Yeah if the dislike feature was restored then I would be willing to bet that the person on this site that currently has the most likes would also have the most dislikes.

I am not sure why you would say that. I am nothing but full of love and good cheer. People NEVER spaz out on me (rudy), send me death threats (rudy), accuse me of auto-erotic asphyxiation (bens weenie), call me a muppet (alnighty) hurt my feelings repeatedly (lexmark) or accuse me of not even playing video games (I don't, but it is still hurtful to hear), or get a cute lady to make over 300 forum posts about me that one time rudy was forum restricted (Krysti the Klown), or get somebody incredibly angry at me for flirting with them (I said Jesse looked CUTE dressed in femglam or whatever it is, wow he is really homophobic sometimes!).

Anyway, like I said, I am super cool.

I have an idea what this thread is about, and while I agree with the idea, it unfortunately wouldn't work according to the reasons listed above.

What gets me, though, is how the warnings and suggestions have been ignored.

I know it seems like bans should have been a done deal by now, but I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt especially during these times. I see how much time they spend on TG and am hesitant to take that away because I do have hope they will learn.

That being said. As it sounds right now, I am at the end of my rope and the time to learn is now.
