Wanted to get some community perspective on this.

Please list what YOU think TG's TOP 3 priorities should be for the next 3 months.

For clarity, my asking this does not mean that TG will necessarily agree with the prioritization presented, but regardless - What is YOUR opinion?

Let's go! :)

Not in a particular order:

-Add functionality for threads in "View Proposed Leaderboards" to be cancelled by the submitter and/or expire after a certain age. The majority of what exists in that thread is spam and cases where an error was made and the submitter asks people not to donate SP.

-More attention dedicated to fixing issues brought up in the "Scoreboard Errors" thread. I've seen stuff sit for weeks on weeks with no response from TG, and members having to repeat themselves sometimes before they get fixed.

-Sitewide correction of all special character errors, generally found in player names: "Karl Broström", "Torbjörn Molander", "Eskil sterberg", etc.

Thank you for taking the time to check in with the community.

Still waiting on this to be fixed, https://www.twingalaxies.com/showthread.php/240677 I think that if one player that is named votes no it should take it out of the voting queue.

#1-Better I.M./P.M.

I am sure it costs a lot to do so, but I communicate with several members from here, on another site, as their personal chat allows pic/file exchange, etc, etc, and the handful of us seem to communicate there. I assume the bandwidth to do so would cost a lot, i.e., "membership fees", I really don't know.

#2-Bringing back the alphabetical choices when selecting games in the individual system leaderboards.

I know internet search can help you get it right, but particularly on MAME and Atari 2600, I remember that being very useful, it takes FOREVER to scour thru MAME in particular, if you aren't EXACTLY sure what you are looking for.

#3-Bring back some form of sponsored TG show featuring high scores, with a crew that actively supports what Twin Galaxies does.

The last show really kept a decent part of the community talking with each other and all, but again, I'd hope the show would be pro-TG this time around.

You only asked for three.

Sorry.

#4-Limit the amount of submissions that a person is allowed to comment on in one day, that one is really, really important.

Like...

Really.

:)

#1. Adjust the credibility bonuses/penalties, especially the latter. There is nothing more frustrating then finally getting close to a certain threshold, only to lose half of your progress due to an honest mistake.

#2. The ability to create a track for multiple consoles at once if there's a game that came out across multiple platforms.

#3. Fixing character errors, especially in player names.

1) finally dealing with this inactive dispute that should be active but can't be. I was told to post in it and it would be dealt with and crickets...

https://www.twingalaxies.com/showthread.php/195546-Dispute-Patrick-Stanley-Game-Boy-Game-Boy-Color-Super-Mario-Land-2-6-Golden-Coins-Fastest-Completion-TGTS-Player-Patrick-John-Fenton-Jr-Score-41-40-0

2) bounty system

3) tournament system

I realize the last two are unlikely to be dealt with and that's cool, but would really really appreciate 1 being dealt with...pretty please.

i was concenred my plan to treat this as a request as opposed to prioritize existing plans would be out of line but that seems to be ok soo......

platforms. I really think we need a generic platform. TG cant proactivley create every platform out there, and its wasteful having empty platforms. Create a miscellanious platform. Add an addition field in track creation for what platform the track would be under if not miscellanioius. Once enough tracks of that platform exist (ill not gonna quibble over the ideal number, you pick), have the system automated to create that platform and move all tracks

also merge this with the request for cross platform tracks. doing them both at the same time would likley be easier than doing each seperately

Fightcade 2 consideration for being added as a platform. It seems stable using the correct roms, which both players must share in order to connect and play.

I think it's inclusion will help boost fighting game submissions, as well as a large number of arcade and console offerings for 2 player co op submissions that wouldn't otherwise be possible.

*But after posting I realized this isn't Top 3 priority material, heh.

I'd instead suggest making pentalties for incorrect voting less severe in order to make it more inviting and less off-putting for newer members to help the community growth. Maybe newer votes shouldn't carry the same weight in the approving process initially

Absolutely this! This would make so much difference to morale.

My other one would be to merge tracks together if there was an update to a game, more so to the Mobile games.
Example : Candy Crush has changed due to an update, the fix was to create new tracks to accomodate/bypass any further updates ( need at least 700 added ). the old scores are now just sitting in a track no one can play, just merge them or update the rules on them so we dont have to create more tracks.

100% to this. Just a wasteland of mistakes for the most part.

I don't know then maybe: Certs, Bounties, Tournaments, anything that has been promised and dropped with no explanation.

I second Seans suggestions, particularly the first two.

Many times when I click TG records>View Leaderboards and then click on a particular console out of the list on the lefthand side the games list that comes up will have broken image links. I often have to refresh the page a time or two before the pictures for the games work. Thats kind of annoying.

1. Promote and showcase the gamers and their performances. On this website. Support the scoreboard 1st. (don't limit the promotion to Facebook/ social media, etc. Some of us don't want Facebook to track us.

2. "Twin Galaxies Entertainment Festival pt 2", Or The Twin Galaxies World Championship (All encompassing Video Game Championship "VGC")

3. Maybe a list mode on website of games with two Many tracks, when browsing. Example Games like racing games, Angry birds.

I agree with many of you, Settle needs a return. Just need the energy/ excitement around here to make it happen.

Crazy wish list. - 4. change ESI calculation, for site wide leaderboard. 5 (cough, cough). Appointment or election of commissioner on rules and regulations related issues on the scoreboard, that communicates with the masses on a regular basis.

I wasn't gonna bring it up cuz I've only seen 1 or 2 others mention it, but I know it would help me out a lot...

The full titles for submissions used to include the original submitter's name, which helped me out a lot in going through the posts faster, because I'd recognize way more submissions that way & I wouldn't have to click on nearly as many.

Example--presently the submissions are shown this way--

Android - Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia - Quest - Abyss β - Abyss β Stratum 2: Abyss β 2-6 - 309,436

--and when someone else comments, we can't see in the shoutbox or "recent activity" who the original submitter was. They used to read like this--

Android - Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia - Quest - Abyss β - Abyss β Stratum 2: Abyss β 2-6 - 320,544 - Rodrigo Lopes

--which was awesome because I usually knew whether I wanted to open it or not. I would LOVE to get that back. Thanks.

Oh hey low priority item but just a good place for a reminder an expanded like button I’ve seen nothing to dislike really in a long time but a love react would be fun when like just isn’t enough

I see where you would say low priority, and I even understand, but no, I'll go farther, love, laugh, and even dislike-

We do need a few more instant reactions to things.

Roll Eyes-I'd LOVE to have that one available, and JJT can have the top spot on another leaderboard!!!

:)

as funny as it is, i think a dislike button is a bad idea here. there's already enough negative energy.

This is all great stuff and I am reading intently. Thank you all for contributing. Please keep it coming as it is always a good ongoing discussion to be involved in.

One of the things I would like to point out is that many times a seemingly simple item to correct is actually a very complex thing to tackle.

For instance this dispute item -

https://www.twingalaxies.com/showthread.php/240672-Dispute-Andrew-Mee-iOS-Candy-Crush-Saga-World-2-Episode-8-Salty-Canyon-Level-109-Player-Kireeti-Phani-Devarakonda-Score-358-740

This issue is caused by the fact that video games are constantly updated and can change substantially while remaining under the exact same title. They just update the version # to denote the difference.

In the past, Arcade games were not updated that frequently so it was less of a problem - however this is a big issue for today and it is something that TG has to address.

As such, what seems like a simple matter is actually not, because it means that TG has to engineer a system-wide solution so that ALL GAMES can have version #'s.

All games having version #'s means that the entire leaderboard display system needs to modified to be able to select and display which version # of a particular game you want to view/compete on.

It also means that submitters need to be able to not only choose their game on the submission form but also the version #. And what if the version # is not there? How is it added?

This must be done across all platforms of course - and changes in our backend system services have to be implemented as well to support this.

Etc. Etc.

So literally, one simple dispute that on the surface would seem to be handled simply, actually triggers many hours of engineering, affecting many different systems!

Anyway, the good news is that we are very close to completing this, which will be very helpful for the go-forward.

Of course, while we work on something like that, other things that need attention get put on hold, as there are only so many engineering resources to go around at any given moment.

In regard to the State of the Galaxies request, I agree that having more interaction/discussion more frequently would be helpful. It is just that I have been very busy on other matters for quite some time - HOWEVER - I am going to be getting a little more time to dedicate here soon and so I was thinking of perhaps having a community ZOOM conference call periodically to connect and discuss TG matters. Would that be something the community would want?

Thank you for taking the time to check in with the community.

Would the community be opposed to TG deleting any proposed Track that is unfunded after 90 days?
