Dear Community

We have introduced a new feature( beta ) for Games . We have created the ability to add Game versions .

You will see a new dropdown on top of the Game Detail Page . The Add/ Edit version button will only be available for admin and users with CR>4000.

Each version will be treated as a separate game . The rankings and ESI will be calculated separately for each Game Version.

On the submission page , users will be able to select game versions. If there are no versions in the system, the drop-down will not be shown

It will be great if users can start using this feature and let us know if there are suggestions or improvements .

We would be monitoring the site for any reported bugs reported. We would love to have your feedback .

Would it be deemed an abuse to use this for tracks that want to allow emu ntsc and pal but lost those three as versions ?

How will this impact existing scores where a version was never listed?

Will existing scores be able to have a version added if it can be determined?

If Game A has 50 scores that I can't beat, can I make a Game A.1, submit my super low score but still be considered in a #1 rank?

What if the difference in version 1.0 and 1.1 is fixing an incorrect color palette or typo on the title screen - the gameplay itself is exactly the same between versions - is this truly something that should be segregated out as separate games?

How does the community propose to answer that question?

Have the default version be "any version", which will inheret all existing entries, and for those new players that want to submit to the specific version, empty leaderboard, let them. Heck ...they can submit to both the generic and the specific if so inclined AFAIC.

With common sense. If the proposer of a version specific track cannot demonstrate that the version in question is materially different from all previous versions, said track shall be treated as a duplicate track.

Dude, we have people who arguing that Raw Thrills Super Cars and Fast & Furious Supercars are the same game despite having different cars, different names, different release dates, etc.

If the community is being asked to decide something like this, I seriously suggest bringing back the tribunal system. Everyone will get their say, everyone will get to vote on options. Permanent record.

If not, we will just keep talking in circles about it on various wall posts.

Or, as I am sure @timmell would suggest, we need to elect a commissioner of gaming that would make these decisions on our behalf.

100% this.

I was not elected to watch video game achievements suffer and die while you discuss these rules forever in a committee!

DO IT!
